Today the LORD starts our conversation leading us into finding meanings lost, beginning in the title, which is Mark 14:49 & 50. As we have learned, God-breathed writing records events of the time in manner engineered to hold a deeper truth, which is found in words of other writers into who God-breathed essential parts of the message. The intended meaning is found in assembling these parts into one unified message, which is revelation only uncovered by following of the LORD God Almighty, His Spirit in the Lamb leading thereto.

Revelation 14 (parenthetically)
1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him a hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads [the elect remnant, for whose sake these days are shortened].
2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
4 These are they which were not defiled with women [the unfaithful church]; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no guile [no deceit]: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters [this word of God].
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon [confusion and darkness] is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand [the ideas, words, and works, of confusion],
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image [the idols they have set in God’s place], and whosoever receives the mark of his name [the ideas, words, and works, of confusion].
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the LORD from henceforth: Yea, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in your sickle, and reap: for the time is come for you to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

As we know, the title refers us to Zechariah 13, where the same elements described also appear in Mark 14, seeing these and what Zachariah’s words are further referring to, we find the lost meaning, which point is itself the deep.

Mark 14
41 And he comes the third time, and said unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrays me is at hand.
43 And immediately, while he yet spoke, comes Judas [Judah – the leader of God people], one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss [false love – that takes Him away, by misleading, into the betrayal], that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
45 And as soon as he was come, he goes straightway to him, and said, Master, master; and kissed him.
46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword [Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow], and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear [and the word is no longer heard by the priests].
48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are you come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
50 And they all forsook him, and fled [and the sheep are scattered by the betrayal and the inability to see or hear the LORD God any longer].

Zechariah 13
1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened [this word of God] to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for [waters to wash away] sin and for uncleanness.
2 And it shall come to pass in that day [today], says the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
3 And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, You shall not live; for you speak lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesies.
4 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he has prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:
5 But he shall say, I am no prophet [because in our time there are no prophets, only false prophets – the LORD now speaking through His children], I am an husbandman [‘iysh – a man]; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in your hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, says the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, says the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Verse 6 above is speaking of the hands, the works, of the body of Christ, and the house of his friend is the house of truth the LORD loves. The Hebrew word there rendered “friend” is ‘ahab, a word referring us to the only other times Zechariah uses it, Zechariah 8:17 & 19 where it is rendered “love,” as it is almost every other time it appears in God’s word.

Zechariah 8
13 And it shall come to pass, that as you were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah [Judas], and house of Israel; so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.
14 For thus says the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I repented not:
15 So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah [Judas – the leaders of God’s people, who’ve betrayed Him]: fear you not.
16 These are the things that you shall do; Speak you every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love [‘ahab] no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, says the LORD.
18 And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying,
19 Thus says the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love [‘ahab] the truth and peace.
20 Thus says the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:
21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.
22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew [Judah], saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

When we are told of the “little ones” the LORD turns His hand to, He is speaking, by reference, of gathering Judah and Israel again. The word used to describe these little ones is tsa’ar, which only appears two other times, Job 14:21 and Jeremiah 30:19.

Jeremiah 30
17 For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the LORD; because they called you an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeks after.
18 Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have mercy on his dwelling-places; and the city shall be built upon her own heap [ruins], and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof.
19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not [no longer] be small [tsa’ar].
20 Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be ESTABLISHED before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.
21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? Says the LORD.
22 And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goes forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.
24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he has done it, and until he has performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days you shall consider it. [THINK!]

Jeremiah 31
1 At the same time, says the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
2 Thus says the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
3 The LORD has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn you.
4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel: you shall again be adorned with your tabrets, and shall go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
5 You shall yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise you, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
7 For thus says the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish you, praise you, and say, O LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel.
8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travails with child together: a great company shall return thither.
9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
10 Hear the word of the LORD, O you nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.
11 For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD.
15 Thus says the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel [Rachel –the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, here her name is used to describe this reuniting of Israel and Judah, after they are born again – after repentance and with their newly {re}written mind] weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
16 Thus says the LORD; Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy [confusion – Babylon].
17 And there is hope in your end, says the LORD, that your children shall come again to their own border.
18 I have surely heard Ephraim [God’s people in this later time, referring to the second blessing, the gift of His teaching and correction that brings the rebirth] bemoaning himself thus; You have chastised me, and I was chastised [corrected], as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn you me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD my God.
19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says the LORD.
21 Set you up waymarks, make you high heaps: set your heart toward the highway, even the way which you went: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these your cities.
22 How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? for the LORD has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless you, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.
24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.
25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
27 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
28 And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, says the LORD.
29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.
30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eats the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. [Judah shall not die for the sins of their fathers; but I, the LORD, will correct them into My righteousness.]
31 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, says the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
35 Thus says the LORD, which gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
37 Thus says the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD.
38 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel [who God has favored] unto the gate of the corner.
39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath [until the fires burning in the high places are brought low].
40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron [the waters that had carried darkness], unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

In Job 14:21 the word tsa’ar is rendered “brought low” in speaking of those who’ve lost their understanding. The passage says even their own transgressions are sealed up, even as the Rock is removed from His place, meaning they are ignorant of their straying and by it blinded from seeing the work of Christ. As we have seen in previous posts, Job 14:8 tells of the “stem of Jesse,” which is only spoken of in Isaiah 11:1 and 40:24. Here it is rendered “stock,” from the (three times used) word geza’ which is telling of the life that springs from what was thought to be dead, and therefore forgotten (lost).

Job 14
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
2 He comes forth like a flower, and is cut down: he flees also as a shadow, and continues not.
3 And does you open your eyes upon such an one, and brings me into judgment with you?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with you, you have appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock [geza’] thereof die in the ground;
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant [this is telling of the spirit {ghost} awakening, in new flesh, with which God has clothed us].
10 But man dies, and wastes away: yea, man gives up the ghost, and where is he?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decays and dries up:
12 So man lies down, and rises not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. [Job showing his ignorance]
13 O that you would hide me in the grave, that you would keep me secret, until your wrath be past, that you would appoint me a set time, and remember me!
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come [speaking of what is written in 1 Corinthians 15:50 thru 58].
15 You shall call, and I will answer you: you will have a desire to the work of your hands.
16 For now you number my steps: do you not watch over my sin?
17 My transgression [into corruption] is sealed up in a bag, and you sew up mine iniquity.
18 And surely the mountains falling comes to naught [the high place where the leaders have fallen away into ignorance], and the Rock is removed out of His place [and the LORD is no longer reigning in their minds].
19 The waters wear the stones: you wash away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and you destroy the hope of man.
20 You prevail for ever against him, and he passes: you changes his countenance, and send him away.
21 His sons come to honor, and he knows it not; and they are brought low [tsa’ar – become few], but he perceives it not of them.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn. [until it changes.]

1 Corinthians 15
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be you steadfast, immoveable, always abounding in the work of the LORD, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the LORD.

When Zechariah, in Zachariah 13:7, says the LORD tells the sword to awaken against a man who is His “fellow,” he uses a word that only appears elsewhere in Leviticus. This Levitical word is `amiyth, rendered nine times “neighbor,” and twice “another.” It is used by Zechariah to draw our attention to its first appearance, twice in Leviticus 6:2, there describe the procedure when something lost is found, and how it should be returned to its rightful owner. This last aspect is referring us again to previous posts where we have discussed Deuteronomy 29:29, which says, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

These things kept secret from the foundation of the world are God’s, and He has freely given them to us. Once revealed there belong to all men, and should be returned to these owners, near and far.

Matthew 24
27 For as the lightning [understanding] comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west [upon all men, near and far]; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For where-so-ever the carcass is [the dead flesh, the dead body of Christ], there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch [‘geza] is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Leviticus 6
1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbor [amiyth] in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or has deceived his neighbor [amiyth];
3 Or have found that which was lost, and lies concerning it, and swears falsely; in any of all these that a man does, sinning therein:
4 Then it shall be, because he has sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he has deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,
5 Or all that about which he has sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertains, in the day of his trespass offering.
6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest:
7 And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he has done in trespassing therein.

Psalm 60
1 O God, you have cast us off, you have scattered us, you have been displeased; O turn yourself to us again.
2 You have made the earth to tremble; you have broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shakes.
3 You have shown your people hard things: you have made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4 You have given a banner [nec – the sign of His coming, this word of God that counteract the deadly venom of those destroying the earth] to them that fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth [the house the LORD loves]. Selah. [THINK!].
5 That your beloved may be delivered; save with your right hand, and hear me.
6 God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem [I will rightly divide the burden that is upon their shoulders], and mete out the valley of Succoth [and make the prepared My habitation].
7 Gilead [this mountain of testimony] is mine [see Deuteronomy 29:29 above], and Manasseh [these things you’ve forgotten – lost] is mine; Ephraim [the blessed masses – who have been given the free gift of My secret things] also is the strength of mine head [will be My crown]; Judah is my lawgiver [through the elect remnant will My law come];
8 Moab is my wash-pot [this entrance is where they will be cleansed]; over Edom will I cast out my shoe [I will take possession of the whole house of Isaac]: Philistia, triumph you because of me.
9 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
10 Will not you, O God, which had cast us off? and you, O God, which did not go out with our armies?
11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
