Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

The above, John 14:11, is the LORD defining how we know Him, after He is unknown and working the work of God the Father. As we well know, when His inner identity (ego – I) is unknown, He describes Himself as the Comforter (Paraclete, Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit) working, leading into all truth, all who receive Him. The truth is the Father is in him, and he is in the Father.

As we know, later in John 14:22, Judas (Judah – here representing the elect remnant in this last, first begotten from the dead, generation) asks the LORD “how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world?”

The LORD precisely tells him that the work He does will identify Him, His giving us (those who love and keep) His word, by which we will know what He says in the title verse. He says, in verse 24, we will know “the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.”

He then, in verse 25, says “These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present [meno] with you.” In this, He says His presence is, by His works, known among them. He then tells of His coming, the manifestation of His presence He describes to Judah, as the Paraclete, the Comforter, who He describes earlier in verse 16 thru 18 as Himself, who shall teach us all things, and remind us of all His (these) sayings.

He then, in verse 27, tells of the peace He left us, His word, which when we understand, removes all troubles (tribulation – the effect of confusion and ignorance) and fear (the product of not knowing the way to overcome). When He says this in ending verse 27, He is quoting Himself from verse 1, these giving us the full revelation of His manifesting Himself in His work of preparing this place.

As we know, this process is the meaning of the name Jehovah, self-existing, self-manifesting, through His work. His name is from the Hebrew words hayah (to exist, be, or become), and havah (to breathe or to be, and to exist). The deepest meaning come with the full, God-given, understanding that havah (hovah) is preceded by the one time used Hebrew word ya’ah (YAH), meaning “to be suitable.”

The definition of “suitable” is, from The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language:
Appropriate to a purpose or an occasion.
Capable of suiting; fitting; accordant; proper; becoming; agreeable; adapted.
Having sufficient or the required properties for a certain purpose or task; appropriate to a certain occasion.

As we understand, this is what Paul describes to the Thessalonians in 1 Thessalonians 2, as he charges them as a Father (in him) does his children, to walk worthy of God, who has called us into His kingdom and glory. He then, for this cause, thanks God, “because, when you received the word of God which you heard through us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.”

The Greek word rendered “effectually works” is energeo, meaning “to be active, efficient.” The one time the Hebrew word ya’ah appears, in Jeremiah 10:7, where it’s rendered “appertain,” which is what Paul concludes with, in 1 Thessalonians 2:19. There he speaks of what is realized, manifested, when the work and word have their effect, saying, “Are not even you in the presence of our LORD Jesus Christ at his coming?”

The LORD, in John 14:30, ends saying He will not talk to us much, meaning His presence would be hidden, when the work of the “princes of this world,” who have nothing in Him (haven’t known Him but put themselves in His place), have removed all understanding. Paul alludes to this when he used the word energeo one other time when speaking to the Thessalonians, in 2 Thessalonians 2:7. It’s there rendered “work” when describing the “mystery of iniquity” already affecting people, darkening minds by deception, causing confusion, now turned into delusion.

He says, this is the work of Satan: stopping the free course of God’s word, of which he speaks in 1 Thessalonians 2:14 thru 18, the work of wicked and unreasonable men, written of in 2 Thessalonians 3:1 & 2. He says (in 2 Thessalonians 2:7) it’s what holds God’s people down (katecho) and will hold them down, until taken out of the way (and the free course of this word is allowed, and will effectually work in those receiving it as the word of God and His presence manifested).

Jeremiah 10
1 Hear you the word which the LORD speaks unto you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus says the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might.
7 Who would not fear you, O King of nations? for to you does it appertain [ya’ah]: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto you.
8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities [worthless instruction].
9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish [from those who abandoned and fled their vow], and gold from Uphaz [whose desire is gold], the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11 Thus shall you say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13 When he utters his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightning [understanding] with rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasures [the cloud].
14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
17 Gather up your wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
18 For thus says the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous; but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
20 My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
21 For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walks to direct his steps.
24 O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.
25 Pour out your fury upon the heathen that know you not, and upon the families that call not on your name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.

Revelation 15
1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are your works, LORD God Almighty; just and true are your ways, you King of saints.
4 Who shall not fear you, O LORD, and glorify your name? for you only are holy: for all nations shall come and worship before you; for your judgments are made manifest.

Jeremiah 16
19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto you from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?
21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.

1 Thessalonians 2
9 For you remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10 You are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblamable we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 As you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father does his children,
12 That you would walk worthy of God, who has called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when you received [paralambano] the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe [have no doubt it is the word of God].
14 For you, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 Who both killed the LORD Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our LORD Jesus Christ at his coming?
20 For you are our glory and joy.

2 Thessalonians 3
1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the LORD may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you [received as the word of God, and receiving the LORD Jesus Christ at His coming]:
2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3 But the LORD is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.

Galatians 1
3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our LORD Jesus Christ,
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5 To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
6 I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received [paralambano], let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received [paralambano] it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light [understanding] shines in darkness; and the darkness [the ignorant] comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew [ginosko] him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received [paralambano] him not.
12 But as many as received [lambano] him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fullness have all we received [lambano], and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
18 No man has seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive [paralambano] you unto myself; that where I am [ego eimi], there you may be also. [See Malachi 3:1]
4 And whither I [ego – my inner identity] go you know, and the way you know.
5 Thomas [those who doubt the LORD’s presence] said unto him, LORD, we know not whither you go; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus said unto him, I am [ego eimi] the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.
7 If you had known [ginosko] me, you should have known [ginosko] my Father also: and from henceforth you know [ginosko] him, and have seen him.
8 Philip [those loving the LORD but not yet knowing He is the son in who the Father’s identity resides] said unto him, LORD, show us the Father, and it suffices us [in this he says he understand seeing the Father is the perfection].
9 Jesus says unto him, Have I been [eimi – I exist] so long time with you, and yet have you not known [ginosko] me, Philip? he that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father?
10 Believe you not that I [ego – my inner identity] am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I [ego – my inner identity] speak not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works [ergon].
11 Believe me that I [ego – my inner identity] am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ [ergon] sake.
12 Truly, truly, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works [ergon] that I [ego – my inner identity] do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I [ego – my inner identity] go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you shall ask any thing in my name, I [ego – my inner identity] will do it.
15 If you love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I [ego – my inner identity] will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive [lambano], because it sees him not, neither knows [ginosko] him: but you know [ginosko] him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I [ego – my inner identity] live, you shall live also.
20 At that day you shall know [ginosko] that I [ego – my inner identity] am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I [ego – my inner identity] will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas says unto him, not Iscariot [not the betrayers but the elect remnant], LORD, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father [the I Am in me] will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loves me not keeps not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid [see verse 1 above].
28 You have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If you loved me, you would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, you might believe.
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world comes, and has nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence [forward – to prepare the place].

John 6
24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum [the city of the Comforter], seeking for Jesus.
25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi [teacher], when came you here?
26 Jesus answered them and said, Truly, truly, I say unto you, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labor not for the meat which perishes, but for that meat which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him has God the Father sealed.
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work [ergazomai] the works [ergon] of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work [ergon] of God, that you believe on him whom he has sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign show you then, that we may see, and believe you? what do you work [ergazomai]?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat [which you knew not, that it’s the word from the mouth of God, by which man lives – see Deuteronomy 8:3].
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Truly, truly, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto him, LORD, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That you also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father’s will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Ephesians 2
1 And you has he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works [energeo – has the darkening effect on the mind] in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved;)
6 And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now, therefore, you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the LORD:
22 In whom you also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew [ginosko]: for had they known [gonosko] it, they would not have crucified the LORD of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him.
10 But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [ginosko] them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who has known [ginosko] the mind of the LORD, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Psalms 49
1 Hear this, all you people; give ear, all you inhabitants of the world:
2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases forever:)
9 That he should still live forever, and not see corruption.
10 For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
12 Nevertheless man being in honor abides not: he is like the beasts that perish.
13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approves their sayings. Selah.
14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
16 Be not you afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17 For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise you, when you do well to yourself.
19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light [they will never understand, and never “lay hold {epilambanomai} on eternal life,” because they doubt].
20 Man that is in honor, and understands not, is like the beasts that perish.

1 Corinthians 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand;
2 By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the LORD from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God [the ego – the inner identity does]; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet [this voice calling the dead to life] shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?

Psalms 64
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily [secretly]; they say, Who shall see them?
6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
