O house of Jacob, come you, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

When Jacob is mentioned, we understand it is most often speaking to God’s people when in their natural state, without spiritual understanding and wrestling with Him unknown among them.

The word above rendered “come” and “walk” is the Hebrew word “yalak,” said to mean “to walk (literally or figuratively); causatively, to carry (in various senses).” Its more complete comprehension reveals it to mean a transition from one state; here, ignorance into understanding is referred to as from darkness into the light.

The word rendered “light” is ‘owr, meaning “illumination or (concrete) luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.).” In the context of this transition, it (‘owr) is the word rendered “light” in Genesis 1:3, when the earth became (hayah) without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The words “face of the deep” are from paniym and thowm, which describes the words (waters) in which deep understanding was present: covered by the darkness.

The word describing the “darkness” covering (upon) understanding is choshek, meaning “the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively, misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness.” We find its deep understanding, its cause and effect, in its twice appearing in Proverbs (Proverbs 2:13 & 20:20).

Proverbs 2
6 For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
7 He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler [magen] to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keeps the paths [‘orach] of judgment, and preserves the way [derek] of his saints.
9 Then shall you understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto your soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve you, understanding shall keep you:
12 To deliver you from the way [derek] of the evil man, from the man that speaks froward things [twisted and perverted truth];
13 Who leave the paths [‘orach] of uprightness, to walk [yalak] in the ways [derek] of darkness [choshek];
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths [‘orach]:
16 To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flatters with her words;
17 Which forsake the guide of her youth, and forget the covenant of her God.
18 For her house inclines unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths [‘orach] of life.
20 That you mayest walk [yalak] in the way [derek] of good men, and keep the paths [‘orach] of the righteous.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Proverbs 20 begins, describing the path by which light (understanding) is left, saying, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging.” The “wine” is the word yayin, meaning effervescence (natural ebullition – a fluid bubbling off gas). It’s descriptively referring to the sons of perdition (the mockers), in the pattern of Reuben, who took the place of his father (representing God). In Jacob’s telling His children what shall befall them in these last days, he describes Reuben as “unstable” as water, using the Hebrew word “pachaz,” meaning ebullition.

Genesis 49
1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, you sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
3 Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
4 Unstable [pachaz – ebullition] as water [this tells of the advice of the serpent, as one of God’s children, with unbridled license, recklessly reinterpreting His word], you shall not excel; because you went up to your father’s bed [went into the women – God’s people who have His words]; then defiled you it: he went up to my couch [took God’s place].

The Hebrew word rendered “excel” is yathar, meaning “to jut over or exceed; by implication, to excel; (intransitively) to remain or be left; causatively, to leave, cause to abound, preserve.” It (yathar) is a direct contrast to the description of Joseph later in the chapter: as a bough jutting over the wall (of the lies of Reuben in the pattern of Satan, the son of perdition, already at work), against who Joseph prevails.

The word “mocker” is the Hebrew word luwts, meaning “properly, to make mouths at, i.e. to scoff; hence (from the effort to pronounce a foreign language) to interpret, or (generally) intercede.” This “interceding” refers to meddling in the affairs of others, in context: putting yourself in the place of the father or God and giving bad (misleading) advice that intoxicates the mind (ignorance induced by mockers).

Proverbs 20
1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging [hamah – tumult and strife]: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.
3 It is an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.
4 The sluggard [those too lazy to dig for truth] will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water [now covered in darkness]; but a man of understanding will draw it out. [Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light {‘owr}: and there was light {‘owr}. 4 And God saw the light {‘owr}, that it was good: and God divided the light {‘owr} from the darkness {choshek}.]
6 Most men will proclaim everyone his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
7 The just man walks in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.
8 A king that sits in the throne of judgment scatters away all evil [misleading] with his eyes [of good Judgment].
9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin [only those who’ve judged themselves, and are made pure by seeing as God sees, by putting on His mind]?
10 Divers weights [evil judgment], and divers measures [and corrupt and perverted sentences {perscriptions}], both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.
13 Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread [this rightly divided word of truth].
14 It is naught, it is naught, says the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger [cover yourselves in ways that are not God’s]: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman [put your trust in the promises of those unfaithful to God and truth].
17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
19 He that goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flatters with his lips.
20 Whoso curses his father or his mother [those who don’t mislead], his lamp [the understanding he has] shall be put out in obscure darkness [choshek].
21 An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed [barak].
22 Say not you, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save you.
23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
24 Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
25 It is a snare to the man who devours that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry.
26 A wise king scatters the wicked, and brings the wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy.

The blessed spoken of above in verse 21, is Ephraim, God’s people in these last days of the old and corrupt world, upon who this light and new creation have come. Jacob calls it the blessing of the deep, and the womb, meaning it is the new birth, the new day, when the LORD, in blessing the one good shepherd, the foundation stone He’s laid, all are blessed with peace (in their king, Shiloh).

Genesis 49
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well [a tree of life by these waters of God]; whose branches run over the wall [the wall of lies men have created and teach]:
23 The archers [ba’al – the gods of this world whose teaching has blinded all from seeing the Father, in the son, the seed of the women who brings forth the man child – see Revelation 12:5] have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the [good] Shepherd, the [foundation] Stone of Israel:)
25 Even by the God of your father, who shall help [‘azar] you; and by the Almighty, who shall bless [barak] you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep [thowm] that lies under [the deep meaning that lies below the surface], blessings of the breasts [of the Ancient of Day – see Isaiah 28:9], and of the womb [seed, the son]:
26 The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors [harah – all those who have come before us, and were only blessed with part of what is perfected in our return to the LORD] unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head [see Zechariah 9:16] of him that was separate from his brethren.

The word yather is used, Divinely Engineered, to give us this precise meaning in telling of those “left” after the LORD’s judgment. Rueben isn’t there because he is an archetype of those who perish (apoleia), who we know Peter defines in 2 Peter 2 & 3.

Psalms 79
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for your name’s sake.
10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of your servants which is shed.
11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you; according to the greatness of your power preserve [yathar] you those that are appointed to die;
12 And render unto our neighbors [the enemies mixed among us] sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached you, O LORD.
13 So we your people and sheep of your pasture will give you thanks forever: we will show forth your praise to all generations.

Isaiah 28
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus says the LORD God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [pinnah] stone, a sure foundation: he that believes shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then you shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goes forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim [as these water breaking forth upon the enemies who are made His footstool], he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon [as these water frozen in heaven are released, as hail to destroy this crop of misleaders in this evil generation], that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
22 Now therefore be you not mockers [luwts], lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the LORD God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
23 Give you ear, and hear my voice [for it is sound doctrine]; hearken, and hear my speech [this report in which the LORD’s arm, His strengthening work, is revealed].

Isaiah 2
2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come [yalak] you, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways [derek], and we will walk [yalak] in his paths [‘orach]: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 O house of Jacob, come [yalak] you, and let us walk [yalak] in the light [understanding] of the LORD.
6 Therefore you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines [invaders among us], and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:
8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
9 And the mean man bows down [to their idols], and the great man humbles himself [to the works of their own hands]: therefore forgive them not.
10 Enter into the rock, and hide you in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.
11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

The Greek word used to tell of these mockers is the twice used word empaiktes, meaning “a derider, i.e. (by implication) a false teacher:–mocker, scoffer.” It tells of them as those mocking the presence of the LORD manifested in His teaching and leading into light. The condition of darkness, as we know, is described in Isaiah 34:11 and Jeremiah 4:23, using the same words (tohuw bohuw) rendered in Genesis 1:2 as “without form, and void.” In these later appearances, the only other places the Hebrew words are used together, the condition is “confusion” and “emptiness,” when His people have become foolish, have no understanding, and the heavens are without light.

Jeremiah is very clear, saying the people have heard the sound of the trumpet (the voice of the archangel), the alarm of war, and have seen the standard: the nec upon which the son of man is lifted, the LORD through Him calling all to assemble. It says in verse 9, speaking of the darkness (ignorance), “it shall come to pass at that day, says the LORD, that the heart [the foundational mind] of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.”

1 Corinthians 13
8 Charity [agape] never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abides faith, hope, charity [agape], these three; but the greatest of these is charity [agape].

1 Corinthians 14
1 Follow [pursue] after charity [agape – the word of God as he gives it], and desire spiritual gifts [the treasure He freely gives those who seek and pursue Him], but rather [mallon – but more so] that you may prophesy.
2 For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks [the word of God without understanding] not unto men, but unto God: for no man understands him; howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries. [For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people {words in their own language that they don’t understand – tongues speaking mysteries, they refuse to hear because they are in agreement with hell: held there by the ever-open mouths of the dead}].
3 But he that prophesies speaks [the gifts God has given him to give] unto men to edification [to educate them into understanding], and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies [educates] himself; but he that prophesies edifies [educates] the church.

Isaiah 28
5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine [shmuw’ah – this report]? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts [who now draw from the Ancient of days].
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people [words in their own language that they don’t understand – tongues speaking mysteries, they refuse to hear].
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
13 But the word of the LORD was [as a builder building] unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

2 Peter 3
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers [empaiktes], walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God [this same word of God] the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition [apoleia] of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the LORD as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The LORD is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night [unknown, in the ignorance of men]; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements [stoicheion – the corrupt foundational ideas and ways of men] shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Jude 1
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered [by this word] unto the saints.
4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only LORD [despotes – the master chosen and sent to rule the world] God, and our LORD Jesus Christ.
5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the LORD, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left [apoleipo] their own habitation [forgot they were created to give God’s word, not their own], he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness [in ignorance – having forgotten what was once known by the faithful] unto the judgment of the great day.

14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the LORD comes with ten thousands of his saints,
15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speak great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
17 But, beloved, remember you the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our LORD Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers [empaiktes] in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our LORD Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling [harpazo – “caught up”] them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted [defiled] by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Psalms 2
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

The word rendered the several forms of “edify,” above in 1 Corinthians 14, is oikodomeo, meaning “to be a house-builder, i.e. construct or (figuratively) confirm.” It’s from the words oikos, meaning a dwelling or family, and doma, meaning a gift. It speaks of giving the gifts God has given us (agape – charity), as what builds the dwelling of God, in His family, which He has created.

The final two times the word (oikodomeo) is used are in 1 Peter 2:5 & 7, rendered respectively “build up” and “builders.”

1 Peter 2
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking [misleading words],
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word [the foundation the children need], that you may grow thereby [and become grown, and put away childish things]:
3 If so be you have tasted that the LORD is gracious.
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 You also, as lively stones, are built up [oikodomeo] a spiritual house, a holy priesthood [see the pattern in 1 Samuel 2 below], to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders [oikodomeo] disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner [the return to the Father of us all, back into His family, His ONE BODY],
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word [because they don’t receive it with faith, the belief that it’s God the Father speaking, calling them home], being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called [edified] you out of darkness [ignorance] into his marvelous [eye opening] light [understanding];
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims [journeying to this destination], abstain from fleshly lusts [that keep you from realizing this is the reality], which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles [those who don’t know the Father]: that, whereas they [those sleeping in the delusion that God isn’t reality] speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the [this] day of visitation.

The LORD, when quoting Psalms 118:22 in verse 7 above, is speaking of today, this day the LORD has made, when His people finally say, “blessed [barak] is he that comes in the name of the LORD.” It’s when His marvelous work is done: opening His children’s eyes by His light, and awakening, realizing God is the LORD who has done this.

Genesis 2
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made [banah – as a builder built] he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Isaiah 28

Ephesians 5
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the LORD the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Ephesians 6
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Ephesians 6
1 Children, obey your parents in the LORD: for this is right.
2 Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with you, and you mayest live long on the earth.

1 Samuel 2
26 And the child Samuel [shmuw’el – who hears and understands the report from God] grew on, and was in favor both with the LORD, and also with men.
27 And there came a man of God unto Eli [the priest who exalt themselves, even above God the Father of the house, who are inhabitants of Shiloh], and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of your father [to Moses of Levi], when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh’s house [the great house of oppression]?
28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of your father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?
29 Wherefore kick you at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honor your sons [of Belial] above me, to make yourselves fat with the chief of all the offerings of Israel my people?
30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
31 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off your arm [the strength of understanding], and the arm of your father’s house, that there shall not be an old man in your house.
32 And you shall see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in your house forever.
33 And the man of yours, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume your eyes [so you are blind and ignorant], and to grieve your heart [so your mind is without God’s foundation]: and all the increase of your house shall die in the flower of their age.
34 And this shall be a sign unto you, that shall come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas [those who fight with their hands: the work and word of the serpent misleading]; in one day they shall die both of them.
35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest [in Shiloh], that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build [banah] him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed forever.
36 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in your house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray you, into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.

In the following chapter, the LORD tells of this day when He again reveals Himself to those who hear Him, “in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.” It tells of Samuel (those who hear God speaking) awakened from their sleep, when there is no open vision (all the deep is covered in darkness), the lamp of God went out in the temple, and Samuel slept.

John 14
20 At that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me [Shiloh – in peace], and I [Shiloh – My peace] in you.
21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loveth [gives my word as I have given it] me: and he that loves [gives my word as given] me shall be loved [given my word to give] of my Father, and I will love [give it as given] him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas says unto him, not Iscariot, LORD, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode [house – family] with him.
24 He that loveth me not keep not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter [the Paraclete], which is the Holy Ghost [the LORD unknown], whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace [Shiloh – where My name is set] I leave with you, my peace [Shiloh] I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 You have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If you loved me, you would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, you might believe.

1 Samuel 3
1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for you called me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you did call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.
8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you did call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call you, that you shall say, Speak, LORD; for your servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for your servant heareth.
11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that hears it shall tingle.
12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.
13 For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons [of Belial] made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.
14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering forever.
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to show Eli the vision.
16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
17 And he said, What is the thing that the LORD has said unto you? I pray you hide it not from me: God do so to you, and more also, if you hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto you.
18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seem him good.
19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba [where the calves were put in God’s place] knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.
21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.

2 Samuel 23
1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
2 The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue.
3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
4 And he shall be as the light of the morning [the understanding of a new day], when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he makes it not to grow.
6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns [misleaders] thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

Luke 20
16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others [who honor the Father and the son]. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.
17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

Psalms 118
1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endures forever.
2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy endures forever.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endures forever.
4 Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endures forever.
5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.
6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
12 They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
13 You have thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.
14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.
16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
18 The LORD has chastened me sore: but he has not given me over unto death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:
20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
21 I will praise you: for you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders [banah] refused is become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save now, I beseech you, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech you, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
27 God is the LORD, which has shown us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise you: you are my God, I will exalt you.
29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures forever.
