The above, from Zechariah 10:12, is the LORD describing when he will strengthen us by His presence manifested, which He describes using “His name” Jehovah. The proper rendering of the text is “I will strengthen them in Jehovah; and they shall walk up and down in his name, says Jehovah.”

The word translated “they shall walk up and down” is the Hebrew word halak, here speaking of when God’s people have become His “goodly horse in the battle,” and realize they are those He speaks of in Zechariah 1:10 & 11. He there calls them “myrtle trees,” from the six times used Hebrew word hadac, meaning said to be uncertain, while appearing to be from the word hadak, meaning “to crush with the foot.” It (hadak) only appears one time, in Job 40:12, there describing when Job (God’s hated people) put his hand over His mouth, and (Job 42:5) heard and finally saw God.

These passages speak of when the LORD (Jehovah – now) will “Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down [hadak] the wicked in their place.” He is speaking of His working through His people, who we know He describes as behemoth, who, in Job 40:15, He tells Job to behold (see). Later in Job 41, He describes the wicked as leviathan, a name we have studied in detail. They are those the LORD draws into plain view, as if with hooks in their mouths, and catches in the snare of their own lying words.

As we know, leviathan is incorrectly rendered “mourning” in Job 3:8, where it’s talking about the false accusers (Job’s three friends, falsely so-called) the LORD is about to draw out into the open and expose Satan (the spirit of the fallen messenger) working in and through them. For this purpose, God sends us into the world, to draw the fire of those deceiving and misleading the world into destruction: the long walk into the death of all humanity, foretold in the garden. It’s into this end the LORD appears, Jehovah himself revealed, walking this walk with us, to delivers us from death: the end from which we cannot deliver ourselves without His strength. Amen! Selah!

Job 3 [not yet understanding why he must suffer]
3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
5 Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
6 As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
7 Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.
8 Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning [leviathan, the deceivers and misleaders in church and state, whose advice leads man into destruction and death: the original curse come from altering the meaning of good and evil, the fruit forbidden for our good – God gave good advice, which Satan altered to mislead into not following].
9 Let the stars [God’s once enlightened people] and of the twilight thereof be dark [became ignorant]; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day [because of which {ignorance, and ignorant of it} they don’t see the light {understanding} when the LORD appears with it]:
10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother’s womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.
11 Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
12 Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?
13 For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
14 With kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;
15 Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:
16 Or as a hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.
17 There the wicked cease from troubling [rogez]; and there the weary be at rest.
18 There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.
19 The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.
20 Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;
21 Which long for death, but it comes not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;
22 Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
23 Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God has hedged in?

The one time used name behemoth, is said to mean Nile-horse, for the hippopotamus. It’s from the word behemah, meaning to be mute, as in a dumb beast. It refers to the wild ass loosed and the horse strengthened, which the LORD speaks of in Job 39, all speaking of His people. In this context of not knowing or speaking, there He also describes them as goats of the rock calving, and later as the ostrich deprived of wisdom and understanding, forgetting her young, and scorning the horse and her Rider.

Job 39
1 Know you the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or can you mark when the hinds do calve?
2 Can you number the months that they fulfil? or know you the time when they bring forth?
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
5 Who has sent out the wild ass free? or who has loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7 He scorns the multitude of the city, neither regards he the crying of the driver.
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve you, or abide by your crib?
10 Can you bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after you?
11 Will you trust him, because his strength is great? or will you leave your labor to him?
12 Will you believe him, that he will bring home your seed, and gather it into your barn?
13 Gave you the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
14 Which leaves her eggs in the earth, and warms them in dust,
15 And forgets that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labor is in vain without fear;
17 Because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding.
18 What time she lifts up herself on high, she scorns the horse and his rider.
19 Have you given the horse strength? have you clothed his neck with thunder?
20 Can you make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
21 He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength: he goes on to meet the armed men.
22 He mocks at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turns he back from the sword.
23 The quiver rattles against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24 He swallows the ground with fierceness and rage [rogez – trouble, word and silence as the cause]: neither believes he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
25 He says among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting [as the tumpet].
26 Does the hawk fly by your wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
27 Does the eagle mount up at your command, and make her nest on high?
28 She dwells and abides on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29 From thence she seeks the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

Job 40
1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
2 Shall he that contend with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproves God, let him answer it.
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer you? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up your loins now like a man: I will demand of you, and declare you unto me.
8 Will you also disannul my judgment? will you condemn me, that you may be righteous?
9 Have you an arm like God? or can you thunder with a voice like him?
10 Deck [‘adah] yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and beauty.
11 Cast abroad the rage of your wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down [hadak] the wicked in their place.
13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
14 Then will I also confess unto you that your own right hand can save you.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with you; he eats grass as an ox.

Job 41
1 Can you draw out leviathan with a hook? or his tongue with a cord which you let down?
2 Can you put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto you? will he speak soft words unto you?
4 Will he make a covenant with you? will you take him for a servant forever?
5 Will you play with him as with a bird? or will you bind him for your maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay your hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who has prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?

15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

28 The arrow cannot make him flee: sling-stones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laughs at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreads sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He makes the deep to boil like a pot: he makes the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He makes a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholds all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

Job 42
1 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
2 I know that you can do everything, and that no thought can be withheld from you.
3 Who is he that hides counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4 Hear, I beseech you, and I will speak: I will demand of you, and declare you unto me.
5 I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye sees you.
6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite [those in the seats of the wise, who, because they made {gold} wealth their idols, became fools], My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends: for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

The word halak appears once in Zephaniah, in Zephaniah 1:17, where it tells of when God’s people “walk” as blind men. As we’ve seen, the name Zephaniah is from the word tsaphan, meaning “to hide (by covering over); by implication, to hoard or reserve; figuratively to deny; specifically (favorably) to protect, (unfavorably) to lurk.” In Zechariah 1:10 & 11, it (halak) is used of God’s people as the myrtle tree among who the LORD has “walked” as a man unknown.

Below, ending at 2 Samuel 22, is from the post of 8 January 2021:
The question humbly posed to the LORD today: What is His plan from here? His answer follows.

Seeing His answer, in Zephaniah 1, we see He is speaking of His provision of hidden treasure, specifically reserved for this moment, and (the truly valuable) with power to bring all things under His glorious rule. As we know, Zephaniah, from tsaphan and Jehovah, means Jehovah has secreted, or Jehovah has treasured (hidden in His treasure house). The height of ignorance is to think the LORD God Almighty would not have provided (planned) a response for this ending. We know He said, “He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the LORD make upon the earth.” (Romans 9:28 quoting Isaiah 10:23)

The LORD’s answer: Zephaniah 1
12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hastens greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk [halak] like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Zephaniah 2
1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’s anger come upon you.
3 Seek you the LORD, all you meek of the earth [for the meek shall inherit the earth], which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be you shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger.

The word “meekness” above, defining the persona of the meek, is the Hebrew word ‘anavah, meaning, “condescension, human and subjective (modesty), or divine and objective (clemency).” It is only used five other times, all describing humility (the character of the humble). David twice uses it, 2 Samuel 22:36, and Psalms 18:35, both in his saying it is the LORD’s “gentleness” that made him great, meaning it is the LORD’s condescension, in him and through him working, leading and speaking to His people.

2 Samuel 22
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
33 God is my strength and power: and he makes my way perfect.
34 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet: and sets me upon my high places.
35 He teaches my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
36 You have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your gentleness [‘anavah] has made me great.
37 You have enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.
38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.
40 For you have girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me have you subdued under me.
41 You have also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

Zechariah 1

4 Be you not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn you now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

8 I saw by night, and behold a man [the leaders of God people, who road them into desolation] riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees [hadac – those who, when returned to the LORD, will trample down the wicked] that were in the bottom [in his shadow {of desolation and death}]; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.
9 Then said I, O my LORD, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will show you what these be.
10 And the man [the LORD] that stood among the myrtle trees [hadac] answered and said, These are they whom the LORD has sent to walk to and fro [halak] through the earth.
11 And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees [hadac – who are as Job and his friends], and said, We have walked to and fro [halak] through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sits still, and is at rest [silent, dumb].
12 Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these threescore and ten years [the desolation caused by the abominations put in God’s place – under the control of confusion]?
13 And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words [leading with good advice, into all truth].
14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry you, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
16 Therefore thus says the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem [I will rightly assess {judge} their condition].

Zechariah 3
1 And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist [satan] him.
2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke you, O Satan; even the LORD that has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you: is not this a brand plucked [the harpazo – referred to in Jude 1:23] out of the fire?
3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
4 And he answered and spoke unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him [the garments spotted by the flesh – of Jude 1:23]. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you, and I will clothe you with change of raiment.
5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments [the clothing of the cleansed priest]. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
6 And the angel of the LORD protested [reiterated] unto Joshua, saying,
7 Thus says the LORD of hosts; If you will walk in my ways [derek], and if you will keep my charge, then you shall also judge my house, and shall also keep my courts, and I will give you places to walk among these that stand by.
8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you, and your fellows that sit before you: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.
9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, says the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

Zechariah 4
1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.
2 And said unto me, What see you? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
4 So I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my LORD?
5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Know you not what these be? And I said, No, my LORD.
6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
7 Who are you, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shouting, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you.
10 For who has despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
13 And he answered me and said, Know you not what these be? And I said, No, my LORD.
14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones [the body of Christ in church and state, Joshua, the cleansed priesthood, and Zerubbabel, those who come to life by coming out of confusion, out of the tribulation fires, out of the world’s mass delusion caused by the deceivers], that stand by the LORD of the whole earth.

2 Samuel 23
1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
2 The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue.
3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he makes it not to grow.
6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

Psalms 18
1 I will love you, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

28 For you will light my candle [niyr]: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by you I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?
32 It is God that girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect.
33 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and sets me upon my high places.
34 He teaches my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
35 You have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your right hand holds me up, and your gentleness has made me great.
36 You have enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
39 For you have girded me with strength unto the battle: you have subdued under me those that rose up against me.
40 You have also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.
41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.
43 You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; and you have made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.
46 The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
47 It is God that avenges me, and subdues the people under me.
48 He delivers me from mine enemies: yea, you lift me up above those that rise up against me: you have delivered me from the violent man.
49 Therefore will I give thanks unto you, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto your name.
50 Great deliverance gives he to his king; and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
