Today setting right the full meaning of what has been lost in translation.
The verse of the day at biblegateway.com is 2 Corinthians 5:19 & 20, which say, “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled to God.”
Before looking into the original language, where the full truth is found, here following is the way “The Message” translation renders the same verses as it attempts to convey the spirit and truth of “the message.”
2 Corinthians 5: 16 thru 20 (The Message)
Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.
Here is the King James Version, with the standard rerendering of the old English words into their new English counterparts.
2 Corinthians 5
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled to God.
21 For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
In the original Greek text of 2 Corinthians 5:19 & 20 the words rendered “To wit” in verse 19 and “as though” in verse 20 are from the same word, hos. The Strong’s Greek Dictionary says it means, “which how, i.e. in that manner.” By understanding these are the same word we see Paul is not saying the two ideas are different, but rather that they are exactly the same; that as God was in Christ, He is exactly like that in us, and having made us His new creations, in His image and likeness, He is by us reconciling the world to Himself. This truth is validated when we are reconciled and speak this same reconciliation. Reconciled is the same as balancing, weighing to make sure they are equal. This is the difference between Godly preaching and teaching, and the counterfeit; the authentic reconciling man to God and His truth, the fake reconciling God to man and his false teaching and misleading.
When verse 20 above uses hos (“as though”) it is followed by the Greek word “tou” which the translator chose to ignore and leave out. It is a word only translated one time, in Acts 17:28, where it is rendered “his” as Paul is speaking on Mars’ Hill to those who are ignorant of God. He says that even one of their fallen poets has said, “For we are also His offspring.”
Paul’s address is telling of God in us all, even the disobedient, as seemingly dead seed, waiting to be watered by this word and brought to life. He is speaking of this time when the waters of heaven are released, and the good and the bad seed all spring to life in this time of the LORD’s Righteous Judgment on the Earth. The bad seed are not speaking for God; but are worldly philosophers, spewing their own philosophies, creations of their own mind attempting to bring God into agreement with the corruption of man and His fallen state. These men seek to reduce all, even God, to the lowest common denominator, all degenerated into confusion, and with it, all come into depravity, abnormality, and misery. The opposite is true with God. He seeks to raise us all to perfection, exactly as Christ. The tares: the imposters, disguised in sheep’s clothing of claimed good intentions, stand in the ways of those who sincerely seek to enter the strait gate into the kingdom, and therefore few find it. Now is the time of the removal of these obstacle, and we are God’s means, His chariots carrying Him and His word of truth in earthen vessels.
Acts 17
18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans [those who defend their worldly {corrupt} ideas], and of the Stoicks [those who stand as obstacles on the porch – blocking the way], encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seems to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus [the rock of Ares the Greek god of war {a false god in men waring with false teaching} – the same word rendered “Mars’ hill” in verse 22], saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof you speak, is?
20 For you bring certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
21 (For all the Athenians [from Athene – the Greek god of wisdom – the spirit in man striving against God, with bottomless degeneration, using relativism trying to cancel out His truth] and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, You men of Athens [who think you are wise], I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is LORD of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And has made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the LORD, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by are and man’s device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent [the sign of Jonah]:
31 Because he has appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he has ordained; whereof he has given assurance unto all men, in that he has raised him from the dead.
Matthew 12
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from you.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah:
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.
44 Then he says, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goes he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits [the false teaching and doctrines of the unfaithful] more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
47 Then one said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren stand without, desiring to speak with you.
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
1 Corinthians 2
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the LORD of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him.
10 But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who has known the mind of the LORD, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
2 Corinthians 3
1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are you able.
3 For you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not carnal?
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the LORD gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that plants any thing, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase.
8 Now he that plants and he that waters are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.
9 For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s husbandry, you are God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master-builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he has built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16 Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
23 And you are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.
Friends, those who hear and do the will of God, this is the time all humanity has hoped for and waited to see. It is God in us, our hope and His glory. It is time to rise and shine.
Daniel 12 tells of this time, and ends telling of numbers of days until it comes. These have numbers that haven’t been understood, their meaning reserved in heaven until now, to be released as God the Father’s witness from heaven, of the time.
Daniel 12
1 And at that time shall Michael [he who is like God] stand up, the great prince which stands for the children of your people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep [as a seed] in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 But you, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swore by him that lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my LORD, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go your way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
13 But go you your way till the end be: for you shall rest, and stand in your lot at the end of the days.
There appears to be only one period (pattern) of forty-five [years] mentioned in the word of God. It’s in Joshua 14:10 where Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, is given Hebron (the city of David). The name Caleb means dog, Jephunneh mean he will be prepared, Kenezite means to hunt. Hebron is from the word cheber, which means to be associated as in a society, and a spell, as in the spell the culture puts upon those who are fully associated with it.
Joshua 14
6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, You know the thing that the LORD said [that they {Joshua and Caleb} shall live and enter the promised land] unto Moses the man of God concerning me and you in Kadeshbarnea.
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea [fugitive in the wilderness] to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart [as I knew in my reasoning mind, because I believed, and had the knowledge of, God].
8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon your feet have trodden shall be your inheritance, and your children’s for ever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.
10 And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spoke this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakims [long necked – giants] were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba [the city of giants]; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
Friends, the one thousand two hundred and ninety days is the time (years) beginning between the deaths of Enos and Cainan, and telling of when man because totally depraved and became mortal (Enos), and (Cainan) became fixed, possessed by the spirit of the world. It ends at the PASSOVER AND THE EXODUS, which is in pattern as (exactly the same as) the coming of the LORD, which doesn’t end until God’s leaders break the spell upon them, the ways learned (of the time and the culture), which have taken them captive and there holds them down. (Do you see it – Moses as Christ and seeing giants a product of their still captive minds?)
Blessed is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days; the forty-five years from physical freedom until the real hold, the mental hold, is broken.
In the prior post, we discussed Psalms 68, which tells of this time when verse 23 says, “That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs [caleb – the words of Caleb] in the same.” We saw this Psalms as telling of when the LORD scatters the enemies, as wind scatters smoke.
Psalm 68
1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
2 As smoke is driven away [by the wind – as your Holy Spirit will drive them away – see John 16 below – and the Holy Spirit leading us into all truth – and the truth shall set you free from what holds you down {katecho}], so drive them away: as wax melts before the fire [as their ideas {stoicheion – elements} melt away from the fires they themselves cause – as in 2 Peter 3], so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rides upon the heavens by his name JAH [YAH], and rejoice before him.
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
6 God sets the solitary in families: he brings out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
7 O God, when you went forth before your people, when you did march through the wilderness; Selah:
8 The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 You, O God, did send a plentiful rain, whereby you did confirm your inheritance, when it was weary.
10 Your congregation has dwelt therein: you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor.
11 The LORD gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
12 Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.
13 Though you have lien among the pots, yet shall you be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
14 When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.
15 The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.
16 Why leap you, you high hills? this is the hill which God desires to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the LORD is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
18 You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive: you have received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
19 Blessed be the LORD, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the LORD belong the issues from death.
21 But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.
22 The LORD said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:
23 That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs in the same.
24 They have seen your goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
25 The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.
26 Bless you God in the congregations, even the LORD, from the fountain of Israel.
27 There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
28 Your God has commanded your strength: strengthen, O God, that which you have wrought for us.
29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto you.
30 Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter you the people that delight in war.
31 Princes shall come out of Egypt [captivity]; Ethiopia [those covered in darkness] shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.
32 Sing unto God, you kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the LORD; Selah:
33 To him that rides upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he does send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.
34 Ascribe you strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
35 O God, you are terrible out of your holy places: the God of Israel is he that gives strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
Psalms 36
1 The transgression of the wicked says within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he has left off to be wise, and to do good.
4 He devises mischief upon his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he abhors not evil.
5 Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and your faithfulness reaches unto the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep: O LORD, you preserves man and beast.
7 How excellent is your lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house; and you shall make them drink of the river of your pleasures.
9 For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light.
10 O continue your lovingkindness unto them that know you; and your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
