To me belongs vengeance and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
The title verse, Deuteronomy 32:35, is speaking of those whose venomous words have caused the desolation of God’s people, and therein continue to hold them. The passage refers to these men as the gods of their world, in whom men put their trust.
Deuteronomy 32
28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!
30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.
39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O you nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
We know these gods are men by the reference in verse 38 asking if these gods have eaten the sacrifice and drank the wine offering. Daniel, in Daniel 14 (which has been removed from most Bibles), explains the meaning in a story he tells referring to Babylonian worshippers daily putting meat and wine in a locked room, to be eaten by Bel (Baal). Daniel exposes this fraud, perpetrated by the false priests of Baal, by secretly, only known to him and the king, sprinkling askes on the floor after these sacrifices were left on the table and room was then locked, as it was every day. The next morning when the room was unlocked the meat and drink were gone, thereby proving the greatness of Baal, until Daniel pointed out the ashes. They showed the footsteps of the priests, their wives, and their children, and also revealed they entered and exited through a secret door.
This is the pattern of the modern false prophets, false preachers, and false teachers in church and state, who daily act out their farce, all to keep people worshiping the false gods of Babylon (confusion), men whose god is their belly.
Philippians 3
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Daniel 14
1 And Daniel was the king’s guest, and was honored above all his friends.
2 Now the Babylonians had an idol called Bel: and there were spent upon him every day twelve great measures of fine flour, and forty sheep, and sixty vessels of wine.
3 The king also worshipped him, and went every day to adore him: but Daniel adored his God. And the king said to him: Why do you not adore Bel?
4 And he answered, and said to him: Because I do not worship idols made with hands, but the living God, that created heaven and earth, and has power over all flesh.
5 And the king said to him: Does not Bel seem to you to be a living god? See you not how much he eats and drinks every day?
6 Then Daniel smiled and said: O king, be not deceived: for this is but clay within, and brass without, neither has he eaten at any time.
7 And the king being angry called for his priests, and said to them: If you tell me not, who it is that eats up these expenses, you shall die.
8 But if you can show that Bel eats these things, Daniel shall die, because he has blasphemed against Bel. And Daniel said to the king: Be it done according to your word.
9 Now the priests of Bel were seventy, besides their wives, and little ones, and children. And the king went with Daniel into the temple of Bel.
10 And the priests of Bel said: Behold we go out: and do you, O king, set on the meats, and make ready the wine, and shut the door fast, and seal it with your own ring:
11 And when you comes in the morning, if you finds not that Bel has eaten up all, we will suffer death, or else Daniel that has lied against us.
12 And they little regarded it, because they had made under the table a secret entrance, and they always came in by it, and consumed those things.
13 So it came to pass after they were gone out, the king set the meats before Bel: and Daniel commanded his servants, and they brought ashes, and he sifted them all over the temple before the king: and going forth they shut the door, and having sealed it with the king’s ring, they departed.
14 But the priests went in by night, according to their custom, with their wives and their children: and they ate and drank up all.
15 And the king arose early in the morning, and Daniel with him.
16 And the king said: Are the seals whole, Daniel? And he answered: They are whole, O king.
17 And as soon as he had opened the door, the king looked upon the table, and cried out with a loud voice: Great are you, O Bel, and there is not any deceit with you.
18 And Daniel laughed: and he held the king that he should not go in: and he said: Behold the pavement, mark whose footsteps these are.
19 And the king said: I see the footsteps of men, and women, and children. And the king was angry.
20 Then he took the priests, and their wives, and their children: and they shewed him the private doors by which they came in, and consumed the things that were on the table.
21 The king therefore put them to death, and delivered Bel into the power of Daniel: who destroyed him, and his temple.
In the Name of the LORD, I ask, “Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted, Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.”
The “help” spoken of, in Deuteronomy 32:38 above, is the help that comes from the only true living God. The false help, in the light of God’s presence and His unknown work, is mentioned in Job 9:13. In it and the chapter after Job is speaking (after His total desolation) of the condition he is in, and not understanding why it is occurring. In verse 12 he asks who will question GOD about what He is doing, while his own words are revealing it in the verse before and after.
In verse 9 he speaks of Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades and their chamber in the south. These are constellations of stars representing the children of God, who hasten to the one fold, to the strength of the LORD, at His coming with them to judge the world. They are later spoken of by the LORD in Job 38:7, 31, & 32, and Amos 5:8.
The deep meaning in Job’s words tells of God’s people held in this chamber (cheder – habitation – in death, in ignorance, or in the belly) until the false “helpers,” (and the false accusers, as in Job’s so-called “friends”) are drawn out and their fraud is exposed.
Job 9
1 Then Job answered and said,
2 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
3 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
4 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?
5 Which removes the mountains, and they know not: which overturns them in his anger.
6 Which shakes the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
7 Which commands the sun, and it rises not; and seal up the stars.
8 Which alone spreads out the heavens, and treads upon the waves of the sea.
9 Which make Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south [See Job 38:7 & 31 & 32 where the children of God are kept until he calls them out].
10 Which does great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
11 Lo, he goes by me, and I see him not: he passes on also, but I perceive him not.
12 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What do you?
13 If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers [the false gods of this world] do stoop under him.
14 How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
15 Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
16 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
17 For he breaks me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds without cause.
Job 38
1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
2 Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Gird up now your loins like a man; for I will demand of you, and answer you me.
4 Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if you have understanding.
5 Who has laid the measures thereof, if you know? or who has stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddling-band for it [you remain ignorant of the plan, until now, which restrained you while you were as flailing infants],
10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
11 And said, Hitherto shall you come, but no further: and here shall your proud waves be stayed?
12 Have you commanded the morning since your days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
14 It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
15 And from the wicked their light [understanding] is withheld, and the high arm shall be broken.
16 Have you entered into the springs of the sea? or have you walked in the search of the depth?
17 Have the gates of death been opened unto you? or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
18 Have you perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if you know it all.
19 Where is the way where light dwells? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
20 That you should take it to the bound [know the end] thereof, and that you should know the paths to the house thereof?
21 Know you it, because you were then born? or because the number of your days is great?
22 Have you entered into the treasures of the snow? or have you seen the treasures of the hail,
23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
24 By what way is the light parted, which scatters the east wind upon the earth?
25 Who has divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;
26 To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
28 Has the rain a father? or who has begotten the drops of dew?
29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who has gendered it?
30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
31 Can you bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
32 Can you bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or can you guide Arcturus with his sons?
33 Know you the ordinances of heaven? can you set the dominion thereof in the earth?
34 Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover you?
35 Can you send lightnings, that they may go and say unto you, Here we are?
36 Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? or who has given understanding to the heart?
Amos 5
1 Hear you this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel [all God’s people].
2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 For thus says the LORD God; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave a hundred, and that which went forth by a hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
4 For thus says the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek you me, and you shall live:
5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to naught [speaking of where idols were put in God’s place, the waters were constantly agitated and swirling].
6 Seek the LORD, and you shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
7 You who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
8 Seek him that makes the seven stars [Pleiades] and Orion, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night: that calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
9 That strengthens the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress. [the desolate are strengthened against those, the false gods of the world, who caused their desolation.]
10 They hate him that rebukes in the gate, and they abhor him that speaks uprightly.
11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and you take from him burdens of wheat: you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink wine of them.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that you may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as you have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the LORD, says thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skillful of lamentation to wailing.
17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through you, says the LORD. [I have passed through you, and you haven’t seen it, as Job admits in Job 9:11, “I see Him not: He passes on also, but I perceive Him not.”]
18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness [a time of great ignorance of the ways of God], and not light [and there is no understanding, because My people have been blinded by the gods of this world].
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Though you offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take you away from me the noise of your songs; for I will not hear the melody of your viols.
24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 Have you offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 But you have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images [idols your leaders created], the star of your god, which you made to yourselves.
27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus [now past tense – Damascus meaning a state of silence, drunken, and in tears], says the LORD, whose name is the God of hosts.
Daniel 14 continues after the above portion, next talking about the dragon the Babylonians worshipped. As we know, the dragon represents any number of creatures, crocodile, serpent, jackal, whale, all with large mouths with which they devoured their prey. Daniel mixed together pitch, fat, and hair, (representing darkness, by which they prospered, and as what covered their inner mind: thoughts and intentions) and forced it back into the mouth of the dragon. This caused it to burst asunder, meaning everything it devoured is seen, and the people are freed from its belly.
Daniel 14
22 And there was a great dragon in that place, and the Babylonians worshipped him.
23 And the king said to Daniel: Behold you can not say now, that this is not a living god: adore him therefore.
24 And Daniel said: I adore the LORD my God: for he is the living God: but that is no living god.
25 But give me leave, O king, and I will kill this dragon without sword or club. And the king said: I give you leave.
26 Then Daniel took pitch, and fat, and hair, and boiled them together: and he made lumps, and put them into the dragon’s mouth, and the dragon burst asunder. And he said: Behold him whom you worshipped.
27 And when the Babylonians had heard this, they took great indignation: and being gathered together against the king, they said: The king is become a Jew. He has destroyed Bel, he has killed the dragon, and he has put the priests to death.
28 And they came to the king, and said: Deliver us Daniel, or else we will destroy you and your house.
29 And the king saw that they pressed upon him violently: and being constrained by necessity he delivered Daniel to them.
30 And they cast him into the den of lions, and he was there six days.
31 And in the den there were seven lions, and they had given to them two carcasses every day, and two sheep: but then they were not given unto them, that they might devour Daniel.
32 Now there was in Judea a prophet called Habacuc [Habakkuk – the LORD’s hand taking hold], and he had boiled pottage, and had broken bread in a bowl: and was going into the field, to carry it to the reapers.
33 And the angel of the LORD said to Habacuc: Carry the dinner which you have into Babylon to Daniel, who is in the lions’ den.
34 And Habacuc said: LORD, I never saw Babylon [I have never been in confusion], nor do I know the den.
35 And the angel of the LORD took him by the top of his head, and carried him by the hair of his head, and set him in Babylon over the den in the force of his spirit.
36 And Habacuc cried, saying: O Daniel, you servant of God, take the dinner that God has sent you.
37 And Daniel said: You have remembered me, O God, and you have not forsaken them that love you.
38 And Daniel arose and ate. And the angel of the LORD presently set Habacuc again in his own place.
39 And upon the seventh day the king came to bewail Daniel: and he came to the den, and looked in, and behold Daniel was sitting in the midst of the lions.
40 And the king cried out with a loud voice, saying: Great are you, O LORD the God of Daniel. And he drew him out of the lions’ den.
41 But those that had been the cause of his destruction, he cast into the den, and they were devoured in a moment before him.
42 Then the king said: Let all the inhabitants of the whole earth fear the God of Daniel: for he is the Savior, working signs, and wonders in the earth: who has delivered Daniel out of the lions’ den.
Bel, one of many idols of Babylon (confusion), only appears three times in the King James Bible. Here following are those passages, all intended for this moment, to be understood in the light of today’s discussion.
Isaiah 46
1 Bel [the gods of this world] bows down, Nebo [the false prophets] stoops, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the weary beast.
2 They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:
4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
5 To whom will you liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?
6 They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.
7 They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he stands; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
8 Remember this, and show yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O you transgressors.
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
12 Hearken unto me, you stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:
13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
Jeremiah 50
1 The word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
2 Declare you among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach [their rebellion] is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
3 For out of the north there comes up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
4 In those days, and in that time, says the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.
5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
6 My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting-place.
7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
8 Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.
Jeremiah 50
43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.
44 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
45 Therefore hear you the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.
46 At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
The king of Babylon, mentioned in verse 43 above, is Nebuchadnezzar whose name begin with the name Nebo, meaning (false) prophet. The full name is describing the lies of the false prophets as the abomination that caused the total desolation of God’s people. He is in travail, as woman ready to give birth, because what he has devoured, as a dragon, is ready to burst out into the sight of all the world.
Jeremiah 51
34 Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me up like a dragon, he has filled his belly with my delicates, he has cast me out.
35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.
36 Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.
37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling-place for dragons, an astonishment, and a hissing, without an inhabitant.
38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.
39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, says the LORD.
40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.
41 How is Sheshach [shachath – destroyer] taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.
43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwells, neither does any son of man pass thereby.
44 And I will punish Bel [the false gods – liars and frauds] in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
45 My people, go you out of the midst of her, and deliver you every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.
46 And lest your heart faint, and you fear for the rumor that shall be heard in the land; a rumor shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumor, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, says the LORD.
49 As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.
50 You that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.
51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame has covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’s house.
52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, says the LORD.
54 A sound of a cry comes from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans [those who use deception to manipulate and control people]:
55 Because the LORD has spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her [proud] waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:
56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompenses shall surely requite.
57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
58 Thus says the LORD of hosts; The broad walls [the lies] of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labor in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.
59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah [Jehovah has prevailed] the son of Neriah [by the light, understanding, of Jehovah], the son of Maaseiah [and He, Jehovah, has become our refuge], when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon [Jehovah’s righteousness, His correct understanding, in His leaders was turned to confusion] in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince [when Jehovah prevails there is peace under the rule of His prince].
60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, and shall see, and shall read all these words;
62 Then shall you say, O LORD, you have spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.
63 And it shall be, when you have made an end of reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:
64 And you shall say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
Psalms 116
1 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech you, deliver my soul.
5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6 The LORD preserves the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
7 Return unto your rest, O my soul; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For you have delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.
12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
16 O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
19 In the courts of the LORD’s house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise you the LORD.
