Mine eyes have seen your salvation, Which you have prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.
The word above rendered “salvation” is the five times used Greek word soterion, meaning “defender or (by implication) defense:–salvation.”
This word speaks of the one in whose face (presence) salvation is “seen,” by the preparation (their repentance) as glory in His people (God in the flesh of those who’ve received Him), who become the carrier of His light to lighten those who don’t know God or His manner (giving understanding of, making straight, His way before them).
It (soterion) is from the word soteria (salvation itself), from the word soter (the Savour), from soza (the saving), from sos, meaning to save.
In Luke, the word soza is used of those who’ve been saved already (by faith), and telling of the those who seek to save (soza) their own lives losing them, and those who lose their lives shall preserve them. This last aspect is described in the later uses of soza, when, during the crucifixion, people are calling for the LORD to save (soza) Himself.
It (this manner of salvation) is also seen when soza is used in 1 Timothy 4:16. There Paul, speaking of faith in the Word of God, tells Timothy, “Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you shall both save [soza] yourself, and them that hear you.”
Romans 10
6 But the righteousness which is of faith [believing it is the LORD speaking through His Word] speaks on this wise, Say not in your heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
8 But what says it? The word is nigh you, even in your mouth [which is where He rises, in His word spoken through us], and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the LORD Jesus [is speaking through us, as He is speaking through me], and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him [in us] from the dead, you shall be saved [soza].
10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same LORD over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name [His identity in us] of the LORD shall be saved [soza]. [Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save {soza} them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.]
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! [This is from Isaiah 52:7, speaking of the report heard, the previous verse saying, “Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that does speak: behold, it is I.” The here quoted portions of verse 7, speaking of His appearing {epihaneia} and kingdom, finishes saying, “that says unto Zion, Your God reigns!]
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah [in Isaiah 53:1] says, LORD, who has believed our report? [and to who {except those who believe He is speaking the report} is the arm of the revealed?]
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes truly, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses says [Deuteronomy 32:21 – see below], I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
20 But Isaiah [in Isaiah 65:1 & 2 – see below] is very bold, and says, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
21 But to Israel he says, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
Titus 2
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation [soterion] has appeared [epiphaino] to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly [rejecting the world’s delusions and insanity], righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing [epiphaneia] of the great God and our Savior [soter] Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise you.
1 Timothy 2
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior [soter];
4 Who will have all men to be saved [soza], and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Luke, using the word soterion one other time, in Luke 3:6, speaks of the “salvation” seen in John the Baptist, preaching the preparation of repentance (the LORD working through and in Him unknown). The first effect, the firstborn from this Baptism, is Jesus, after coming up out of the waters as the known presence of God.
Luke 3
2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the LORD, make his paths straight.
5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answered and said unto them, He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has meat, let him do likewise.
12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he was the Christ, or not;
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I comes, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge [of sin, as in Isaiah 27:8 & 9, when it shoot forth you shall debate with it, and he shall take away all the sins of those who receive Him as He is] his floor, and will gather the wheat into His [into ONE BODY] garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
19 But Herod [the heroes of the enemies mixed among us, at war with us and tyrannically ruling over us] the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison [these enemies mixed among stopped all calls to repentance].
21 Now when all the people were baptized [and began to repent, to end their silence], it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost [the LORD God unknown] descended in a bodily shape like a dove [as on Jonah, and as John, signs of the end] upon him, and a voice came from heaven [the LORD making His presence known in Him], which said, “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.”
23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph.
2 Thessalonians 2
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the LORD shall consume with the spirit of his mouth [speaking this Word of God], and shall destroy with the brightness [epiphaneia] of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan [who led all astray, away from God, into the endless fall away from Him in the bottomless pit] with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth [the brightness of His coming, HIS GRACE AND TRUTH upon all], that they [as many as comprehend and receive Him,] might be saved [soza].
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion [the insanity that covers the world, wherein men can’t distinguish between their delusion and reality, not even knowing the difference between men and women], that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the LORD, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit [Him working and speaking unknown] and belief of the truth [that it is Him speaking]:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our LORD Jesus Christ [when He is known].
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our LORD Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
Genesis 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God [only, when darkness covered the face of the deep, when the world became ignorant of what is below the surface of the word still present].
3 All things were made by him [the Word of God, by which He framed the worlds: beginnings and endings]; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light [understanding – comprehension] of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness [understand came into the flesh of God’s anointed: the son who received understanding directly from the Father]; and the darkness [the ignorant] comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness [calling all to repentance, purging out corruption], to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world [into new life, quickened by the understanding of the second Adam, God’s Spirit in the flesh doing His work, bringing many sons to glory].
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name [God’s signature seen in Him]:
13 Which were born [again], not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld [saw] his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of GRACE AND TRUTH.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
My reference above to God’s “framing” the worlds points to Hebrews 11:3 where it’s stated while the writer is speaking of faith. It is describing the faithful throughout history, who heard and believed God, and saw the promises far off, perfected in our time, verses 40 saying, “God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.”
Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for [heard but not received], the evidence [the promise they would appear] of things not [yet] seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report [as here, God testifying to their faith in Him].
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds [beginnings and endings] were framed by the word of God [in those He anointed], so that things which are seen [not yet comprehended] were not made of things which do appear [phaino – lightened, shined and shown].
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
When verse 10 speaks of God as the builder and maker of the foundations of the city, it speaks of when and how it was “framed” by Him. It is from the Greek word katartizo, meaning “to complete thoroughly, i.e. repair (literally or figuratively) or adjust:–fit, frame, mend, (make) perfect(-ly join together), prepare, restore.”
The word speaks of the mechanism God put in place, which created the world, and which refreshes it when needed, restoring order and re-establishing the foundations. It is Him manifesting Himself in the flesh, revealing the things that remain present in His word but are unseen by the world degenerated into ignorance by following small men (misleaders) who (ignorantly proud) think they are great.
23 Know you that our brother Timothy is set at liberty [freed from death and sent on this mission, as a man of war]; with whom, if he comes shortly, I will see you., it tells of the body the LORD has “prepared,” the one who comes to do His will, who comes in the volume book, revealing God in Him: the word of God made flesh. When this is said, it’s quoting Psalms 40:6 thru 8, which further speaks of how he, the Word of God, comes to take away sins caused by falling away from God and His truth: by following the unrighteous misleaders who put themselves in God’s place and are now sitting in His seat teaching error.
Hebrews 10
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he comes into the world, he says, Sacrifice and offering you would not, but a body have you prepared [katartizo] me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you have had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come ([hidden in the unknown deep] in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do your will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin you would not, neither had pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, “Lo, I come to do your will, O God.” He taketh away the first [offering by the law, which cannot take away errors], that he may establish the second [doing His will, to take away errors, as stated below in the following verses of Psalms 40].
Psalms 40
4 Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust, and respect not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are to us-ward [Your ONE BODY ]: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire; mine ears have you opened: burnt offering and sin offering have you not required.
7 Then said I, “Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do your will, O my God: yea, your law is within my heart.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, you know.
10 I have not hid your righteousness within my heart; I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation: I have not concealed your lovingkindness and your truth from the great congregation.
11 Withhold not you your tender mercies from me [Your ONE BODY], O LORD: let your lovingkindness and your truth continually preserve me [perfecting us into new life].
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me [and scattered our parts], so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart [understanding] fails me [Your ONE BODY].
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, ‘Aha, aha.’
16 Let all those that [diligently] seek you rejoice and be glad in you: let such as love your salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
17 But I am poor and needy; yet the LORD think upon me: you are my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.”
Hebrews 13
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
6 So that we may boldly say, The LORD is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
19 But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our LORD Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect [katartizo] in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.
23 Know you that our brother Timothy is set at liberty [freed from death and sent on this mission, as a man of war]; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.
25 Grace be with you all. Amen.
1 Peter 4
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved [soza], where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
1 Peter 5
1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.
5 Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace [and TURH] to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect [katartizo], establish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Paul, in 1 Corinthians 1:10, describes the “perfecting” in being in ONE BODY, with one mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 1
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly [katartizo] joined together [in ONE BODY] in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11 For it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe [chloros – the “pale” horse whose name is Death, and Hell followed with him], that there are contentions among you [that have divided and scattered you, in this house].
12 Now this I say, that every one of you says, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel [which gathers you from the names you’ve taken, and joins you into ONE BODY]: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ [long-suffering to bring this word of God, which effectually works to produce One Mind of Christ in you] should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved [soza] it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save [soza] them that believe [it is Him speaking].
The word “settle” in 1 Peter 5:10 above is the six times used Greek word themelioo, meaning “to lay a basis for, i.e. (literally) erect, or (figuratively) consolidate:–(lay the) found(- ation), ground, settle.” It tells of the consolidation into ONE BODY, by laying the foundations and order that erects us, raising us from our fallen state in death and hell.
Hebrews 1
10 And, You, LORD, in the beginning, have laid the foundation [themelioo] of the earth; and the heavens [separating the word {waters} of God from the errors of man, bringing full understanding in the firmament: this exposition] are the works of your hands:
11 They shall perish [the old corrupt heaven and earth]; but you [the Word of God] remain; and they all shall wax old as does a garment;
12 And as a vesture shall you fold them up, and they shall be changed [purged from corruption, creating a new heaven and earth, wherein dwells righteousness]: but you are the same, and your years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels [His messengers] said he at any time, “Sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?”
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, [not sitting still, but] sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation [soteria]?
Hebrews 2
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation [soteria]; which at the first began to be spoken by the LORD, and was confirmed unto us by them [ministering spirits] that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost [the LORD unknown, working and speaking these treasures He’s freely given us], according to his own will?
Isaiah 65
1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
3 A people that provoke me to anger continually to my face [my presence]; that sacrifice in gardens, and burn incense upon altars of brick [the creations of men];
4 Which remain among the graves [in hell], and lodge in the monuments [among the dead], which eat swine’s flesh [every unclean thing], and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
5 Which say, “Stand by yourself, come not near to me; for I am holier than you.”
Deuteronomy 32
17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
18 Of the Rock that begat you you are unmindful, and have forgotten God that formed you.
19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation [twisting and perverting truth], children in whom is no faith.
21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:
27 Were it not that I feared [for them] the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD has not done all this.
28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!
30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies [mixed among us] themselves being judges.
Isaiah 40
3 The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 The grass withers, the flower fades: because the spirit of the LORD blows upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades: but the word of our God shall stand forever.
9 O Zion, that brings good tidings, get you up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that brings good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10 Behold, the LORD God will come with a strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Exodus 15
2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
Psalms 108
1 O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.
2 Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
3 I will praise you, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto you among the nations.
4 For your mercy is great above the heavens: and your truth reaches unto the clouds.
5 Be you exalted, O God, above the heavens: and your glory above all the earth;
6 That your beloved may be delivered: save with your right hand, and answer me.
7 God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
9 Moab is my washpot [I will cleanse them at the gates of hell]; over Edom [the enemies mixed among us] will I cast out my shoe [taking them captive]; over Philistia [the invaders among us who refuse to assimilate into our better culture] will I triumph.
10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom [as a man or war against the enemies]?
11 Will not you, O God, who have cast us off? and will not you, O God, go forth with our hosts?
12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
