You did run well; who did hinder you that you should not obey the truth?
The above, Galatians 5:7, comes as Paul, the LORD alive in him speaking, discusses obeying the Law or Christ, the written letter, or diligently seeking to fulfill its underlying Spirit. Paul speaks of preaching the Law and circumcision of the mind, by which understanding comes, “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
He (Paul), describing his suffering for preaching this underlying rudimentary principle, says, “And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is [if I did not necessarily suffer this tribulation for your sakes] the offense of the cross ceased.”
As previously discussed, the word rendered “offense” is the skandalon (scandal), meaning “a trap-stick (bent sapling), i.e. snare (figuratively, cause of displeasure or sin).” It speaks of the “snare” that has now come upon all the world, and specifically God’s “holier than thou” people who are offended at the Father’s appearance in (what they define as) my scandalous flesh.
The word is said to be derived from the kampto, meaning “to bend.” It (kampto) is used four times, all telling of who men “bow” their knee to, men as idols who put themselves in His place or the LORD to whom all will “bow.”
Galatians 5
12 I would they [those who make themselves gods, idols, the hyper-religious, who, claiming they know the “Law,” put themselves in the Father’s place] were even cut off which trouble you.
13 For, brethren, you have been called unto liberty [away from the rudiments of this world, the corrupt elements, partials understanding without the Spirit]; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love [agape – leading the world out of darkness into the light: giving this understanding as received by the Spirit of truth, the Paraclete, the LORD working among us unknown, whose led us into it] serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word [logos – “Divine Expression”], even in this; You shall love [agapao] your neighbor as yourself.
15 But if you bite and devour one another [as serpents and whales mixed among God’s people], take heed [be warned] that you be not consumed one of another.
16 This I say then, Walk in the [high way of the] Spirit [the truth into which He’s led us], and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
The word rendered “consume” is the three times used word analisko, meaning “to use up, i.e. destroy:–consume.” The first of these other uses comes in Luke 9:54, as James and John, seeing rejected the messengers the LORD sent to prepare the way before Him, ask the LORD, “will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume [analisko] them, even as Elijah did?”
Luke 9
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
Before looking at the other use of analisko, we must remember the LORD’s words from John 3, first saying the Son of man has come to save the world, but there is a decision (krisis) by which men condemn themselves when this truth (understanding, light, life) has come, and men choose to remain the darkness (ignoring the light) because their deeds are evil.
2 Thessalonians 2
8 And then shall that Wicked [who are offended by this word, who trouble you and seek to keep you held down in their darkness] be revealed, whom the LORD shall consume [analisko] with the spirit of [this word from] his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness [shining this understanding as the light] of his coming:
9 Even him [I Am], whose coming is after [the falling away from truth and light, which is among you] the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of [agape – leading us out darkness, by] the truth [light and life], that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion [the insanity that now permeates all the institutions of church and state that are possessed by Satan], that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness [as they do, with pride].
Romans 11
2 God has not cast away his people [those held in the places possessed by Satan, here in hell] which he foreknew. Wot you not what the scripture says of Elijah? how he made intercession to God against Israel saying,
3 LORD, they have killed your prophets, and digged down your altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 But what says the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed [kampto] the knee to the image of Baal [the gods of this evil world].
5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace [given this gift from the LORD, His testimony by which he saves us].
6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace [the gift] is no more grace [is not a gift]. But if it be of [men’s] works, then it is no more grace [a gift from God]: otherwise work [to which he has called us] is no more work [for which we are prepared, to deliver the gift freely, as received].
7 What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks for; but the election has obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
2 Corinthians 4
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully [as is the work of Satan]; but by manifestation of [phanerosis – making apparent] the truth commending ourselves [suniemi – introducing, establishing] to every man’s conscience [suneidesis – to produce a co-perspective, agreement with Him, seeing as He sees] in the sight [realizing the presence] of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god [men as idols] of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not [the LORD is present with us, in us], lest the light [understanding] of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the LORD; and ourselves your servants [working] for Jesus’ sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light [this understanding] to shine out of darkness [among the ignorant], has shined in our hearts [minds], to give the light [understanding] of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face [presence] of Jesus Christ [Jehovah’s Salvation manifested in this high way, in scandalous flesh].
Romans 11
8 (According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
Isaiah 29
9 Stay yourselves, and wonder [not knowing what you are experiencing]; cry you out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 For the LORD has poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep [with no signs of life], and has closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers [ra’ah – those who see as God sees] has he covered [kacah].
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book [cepher] that is sealed [chatham], which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray you: and he says, I cannot; for it is sealed [chatham]:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray you: and he says, I am not learned.
13 Wherefore the LORD said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart [the foundations of their mind – their stiocheion, the elements of their understanding, are corrupt and disordered] far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous [eye opening] work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder [pele’ – at which all have wondered]: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their [wicked] counsel [‘etsah] from the LORD, and their works are in the dark [their own ignorance of reality and truth they can’t understand because it is as a foreign language], and they say, Who sees us? and who knows us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down [the overthrow] shall be esteemed as the potter’s [yatsar] clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed [yatser] say of him that framed [yatsar] it, He had no understanding?
17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon [where purity should be seen in high places] shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest [of upright men]?
18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
19 The meek [who shall inherit the earth] also shall increase their joy in [realizing the presence of] the LORD, and the poor [those without worldly power] among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the terrible one is brought to naught, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
21 That make a man an offender [scandalous] for a word [they say violates the falsely so-called “moral” code on this evil time: the rudiments, stoicheion, of this evil world], and lay a snare for him that reproves in the gate [out of hell into the kingdom of God], and turn aside the just [from entering] for a thing of naught [an offense that isn’t one].
22 Therefore thus says the LORD, who redeemed [padah] Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale [but they will reach the end promised].
23 But when he sees his children [who have been born again out of death and hell], the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name [declare My identity Holy], and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured [against me] shall learn doctrine.
Romans 11
9 And David says, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block [skandalon], and a recompence unto them:
10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always.
Psalms 69
13 But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation.
14 Deliver me out of the mire [of men’s corruption, that has clouded these waters, and hidden understanding from their eyes], and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters [the wicked in power have darkened].
15 Let not the waterflood [of the wicked] overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16 Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.
17 And hide not your face [paniym – Your presence] from your servant; for I am in trouble [tsar – under enemy attack]: hear me speedily.
18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies [‘oyeb – who hate me].
19 You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: my adversaries [who heap these things upon me] are all before you.
20 Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21 [At my cross] They gave me also gall [their poisonous words] for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22 Let their table become a snare before [paniym – by Your presence unknown to] them: and that [this word they reject] which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
24 Pour out your indignation [za’am – that ends in their destruction] upon them, and let your wrathful anger take hold of them.
25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.
26 For they persecute him whom you have smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom you have wounded.
Romans 11
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles [unbelievers, who haven’t known the LORD], for to provoke them to jealousy [parazeloo – bring heat to those who call themselves believers, who are ignorant of their fallen condition].
12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of [this gift, grace to] the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness [when they likewise receive this gift]?
13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office:
14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation [parazeloo – bring heat to] them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling [katallage – the course adjustment] of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 For if the first-fruit [the elect remnant] be holy, the lump [the risen BODY they’ve provoked to emulation] is also holy: and if the root [from where this gift flows] be holy, so are the branches.
The “fall,” into death’s sleep, Paul speaks of twice above, is the Greek word paraptoma, said to mean “a side-slip (lapse or deviation), i.e. (unintentional) error or (wilful) transgression.” Its deeper meaning is in the words para (from beside or near) and potamos, meaning “a current, brook or freshet (as drinkable), i.e. running water.” This latter word (patomos) speaks of water that flows as a flood against humanity and those combating them as “rivers” of pure living water whose origin is the Father in heaven.
Romans 9
27 Isaiah also cries [in Isaiah 1:9] concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the LORD make upon the earth.
29 And as Isaiah said before, Except the LORD of Sabaoth [commander of the army of heaven] had left us a seed, we had been as Sodom, and been made like unto Gomorrah. [Isaiah 1:9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. 10 Hear {shama’ – and obey} the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.]
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed [obeyed] not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed [obeyed] after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling-stone and rock of offence [skandalon – the scandal of the LORD’s word flowing from the flesh of a man disapproved by the self-righteous who say it should be otherwise, according to their words]: and whosoever believes on [the Father’s words from] him shall not be ashamed.
Remember, this last verse is quoted from Isaiah 28:16, which speaks to and of the same people as above at this moment. It speaks of those who’ve made a covenant with death, and are in agreement with hell, to whom comes this rest and refreshing, which they refuse.
Isaiah 28
5 In that day [today is the day, this time of light] shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem [tsphiyrah – only appearing two other times, in Ezekiel 7:7 and 7:10, when it is the “morning” that has now come, saying “The morning {tsphiyrah} is come unto you, O you that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.” and “Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning {tsphiyrah} is gone forth; the rod has blossomed, pride has budded.”] of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate. [Ezekiel 7:8 & 9 say, “Now will I shortly {a short work will the LORD make upon the earth, because the bed upon which humanity sleeps is shorter than humanity itself, who will remain} pour out my fury upon you, and accomplish my anger upon you: and I will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense you for all your abominations. And my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense you according to your ways and your abominations that are in the midst of you; and you shall know that I am the LORD that smites.”]
7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
8 For all tables [that have become a snare upon them] are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine [shmuw’ah – {shama’ Yahh} heard and obeyed this voice of Jehovah teaching]? them that are weaned from the milk [receiving the foundational element of truth, have advanced in understanding, into perfection], and drawn [now draw] from the breasts [of the Ancient of Days – as we know, the word here rendered “drawn” is ‘attiyq, only appearing elsewhere in 1 Chronicles 4:22, where it speaks of the “ancient” things, the work of those that dwelt with the king].
10 For [as here] precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue [the truth: a foreign language to those who only know corruption] will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they [refused and] would not hear [shama’ – and obey].
13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
14 Wherefore hear [shama’ – and obey] the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the [this] overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus says the LORD God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believes shall not make haste [shall not be taken away with the flood of men’s lying words, the shame that comes upon those who refuse this rest and refreshing].
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and [the] righteousness [of God] to the plummet [against which your righteousness shall be judged]: and the hail [the word frozen in heaven, reserved there for this moment] shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters [His word from heaven] shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell [sheol] shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge [showt] shall pass through, then you shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goes forth it shall take you [in its snare]: for morning by morning shall it pass over [‘abar – the bringing the Passover from death into life for those who receive it as His word], by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report [shmuw’ah – only to understand it is the voice of Jehovah manifesting His presence to those who receive Him].
20 For the bed is shorter than that a man [sleeping in death] can stretch himself on it: and the covering [of lies and falsehood] narrower than that he can wrap [hide] himself in it.
21 For the LORD [Jehovah] shall rise up as in mount Perazim [2 Samuel 5:20 – as water from His throne, breaking forth upon His and David’s enemies], he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon [Joshua 10:10 & 11 – His word reserved {frozen} in heaven, sent as great hailstones upon the wicked: the current corrupt crop sitting in power], that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange [known to no one except Him] act.
22 Now therefore be you not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the LORD GOD [‘Adonay Jehovih – KING of kings and LORD of lords] of hosts [a man of war and Commander, Chief, of the army of heaven] a consumption [kalah – a full end, as in Daniel 9:27], even determined [charats – decreed, as in Joshua 10:21 saying “And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua {Jesus} at Makkedah {as one flock under one shepherd} in peace: none moved {charats} his tongue against any of the children of Israel.” And 2 Samiel 5:24, the LORD saying to David, “And let it be, when you hear {shama’ – obey} the sound {qowl – the voice} of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees {baka’, from which come bkowr – telling us this is the voice of the “firstborn”}, that then you shall bestir yourself: for then shall the LORD go out before {paniym – His presence will be manifested with, in} you, to smite the host of the Philistines {the enemy army now mixed among you}.”] upon the whole earth.
23 Give you ear, and hear [shama’ – and obey] my voice; hearken, and hear [shama’ – and obey] my speech.
1 Peter 2
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:
3 If so be you have tasted that the LORD is gracious [freely giving this gift to all].
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 You also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them [those who claim they are builders but are in truth the destroyers of the world] which be disobedient [incorrigibles who refuse to obey], the stone [I Am] which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner [turning men’s heads back to the LORD],
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense [skandalon], even to them which stumble at the word [this word from the mouth of the LORD, with which they ignorantly wrestle into perdition], being disobedient [refusing to obey the voice of the Father]: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness [the ignorance and insanity that covers the now dead world] into his marvelous [eye opening] light [understanding and life];
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Jonah 2
1 Then Jonah [the dove, whose voices are the sign of the end reached] prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s [dagah] belly [the source of the agitation of humanity, the evil intention, below the surface of men’s words, to gain and keep power],
2 And said, I cried by reason of my affliction [tsarah – this tribulation] unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell [sheol] cried I, and you heard my voice.
3 For you had cast me into the deep [this full circuit into understanding], in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all your billows and your waves passed over me [‘abar – to bring me from death into life again].
4 Then I said, I am cast out of your sight [no longer seeing as you see]; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains [to the lowest degeneration of the earth ruled by tyrants in power over church and state]; the earth with her bars was about me forever: yet have you brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto you, into your holy temple.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 But I will sacrifice unto you with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that [to open my mouth when You call] that I have vowed [the mission on which we are sent]. Salvation [yshuw’ah – Jesus] is of the LORD [Jehovah manifesting His salvation in our flesh].
10 And the LORD spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land [where this word of LORD isn’t yet heard].
Romans 4
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith [acting, hearing the LORD’s voice and obeying His commands, in the moment].
14 For if they which are of the law [the written word, the spirit of which is always corrupt in the hands of those it is left to be protected in pure form] be heirs, faith [hearing the LORD’s voice that comes to interrupt the strays and correct them back on His course] is made void, and the promise [of this salvation, His promised rescue] made of none effect:
15 Because the law [in man’s hands] works wrath: for where no law is [when a state of nature exists, without any pure law], there is no transgression [only consequence]. [Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law {restoring it to its holy place in pure form}.]
16 Therefore it [receiving the LORD at His interruption and correction] is of faith, that it might be by grace [the free gift given – to those who receive or refuse it]; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed [who do receive it]; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of [hearing the LORD’s voice and following His commands, as did] Abraham; who is the father of us all [who receive this promise [now at His appearing and kingdom],
17 (As it is written, I have made you a father of many nations,) before him [in the LORD’s presence] whom he believed [and acted], even God, who quickens the dead [to life], and calls [brings to light] those things which be not [yet seen] as though they were [always there, prepared, waiting for His revelation].
18 Who against hope [stated in His promise] believed in hope [of receiving it when it comes], that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall your seed be. [Genesis 22:17 That in blessing I will bless you {with this gift}, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore {when humanity reaches this appointed time, this limit, where the proud waves of the wicked are stopped}; and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies {holding humanity in death and hell}; 18 And in your seed {who receive the promise by faith} shall all the nations of the earth be blessed {by this same gift of light: synonymously life and understanding} because you have obeyed {shama’} my voice.]
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God [who manifests Himself in things the unfaithful thinks are impossible];
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our LORD from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for [because of] our offences [paraptoma – the degeneration of understanding the Spirit in the law], and was raised again for our justification [to restore this understanding through judgment].
Here Him, not me.
Romans 5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our LORD Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace [this gift of light] wherein we stand [and live], and rejoice in hope of the glory of God [revealed to us, and in us].
3 And not only so, but we glory [know He is presence with us] in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;
4 And patience [waiting for Him to finish His short work upon the earth], experience; and experience[ing Him in His word and work], hope:
5 And hope [knowing He will finish it] make not ashamed [we will not be disappoint because we will reach the end He promises]; because the love of God is shed abroad [ekphuo – through springing forth from good ground] in our hearts [minds] by the Holy Ghost [the LORD with us, working and speaking unknown to reveal Himself to us, in us] which is given unto us. [One of the three times the word phuo appears is in Luke 8:8, saying, “And other fell on good ground, and sprang up {phuo}, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that has ears to hear, let him hear.”]
6 For when we were yet without strength [understanding by which we rise to life], in due time Christ died [to give us this understanding] for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died [and came here to hell where all are held in death] for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood [the sacrifice necessary to bring this message, manifesting therein the Father’s identity], we shall be saved from wrath through him [which comes upon those who refuse correction and continue into the consequence of going their own way].
10 For if, when we were enemies [opposing Him here in hell], we were reconciled [katallasso – the change away from corruption] to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled [katallasso – changed away from corruption], we shall be saved by his life [risen here in hell to free us by His truth]. [1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed {allasso}, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling {of stars to light} of an eye {by seeing as the LORD sees}, at the last trump {this voice of His archangel}: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed {allasso}. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.]
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God [realizing His presence with us] through our LORD Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement [katallage – this needed adjustment].
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned [hamartano – strayed from the course to this goal and were on a trajectory that would miss the target]:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law [only consequence, missing the promised end].
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure [the first man of this new heaven and earth] of him that was to come [I Am].
15 But not as the offence [paraptoma], so also is the free gift [shed upon all]. For if through the offence [paraptoma] of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ [Jehovah’s Salvation manifested in my flesh], has abounded unto many [to be manifested in their flesh; I and the children the LORD has given me: His ONE BODY].
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift [not by one who is missing the mark]: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences [paraptoma] unto justification.
17 For if by one man’s offence [paraptoma] death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence [paraptoma] of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life [understanding and light].
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience [to the commands of the LORD] of one [I have been sent for this purpose, this is my mission] shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence [paraptoma] might [not receiving correction] abound. But where sin abounded, grace [this gift, the full circuit, the LORD’s long suffering, that brings victory over death and hell] did much more abound [bringing the correction]:
21 That as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign [the gift now exalted above all the words of corruption] through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our LORD.
The word katallage, meaning “exchange (figuratively, adjustment), i.e. restoration to (the divine) favor,” appears two other times, in 2 Corinthians 5. In the same chapter the word katallasso also appears three times (of six total uses).
2 Corinthians 5
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle [our flesh] were dissolved, we have a building of God, a [spirit] house [the OND BODY] not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. [1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the LORD from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the {mortal} image of the earthy, we shall also bear the {immortal} image of the heavenly. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot {without a living spirit, quickened in our dead flesh} inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption {of the flesh} inherit incorruption {of the Spirit}. 51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all {in the flesh} be changed {allasso}, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling {of stars to light} of an eye {by seeing as the LORD sees}, at the last trump {this voice of His archangel}: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised {their dead flesh brought to life} incorruptible, and we shall be changed {allasso}. 53 For this corruptible {flesh} must put on {be clothed upon with} incorruption, and this mortal {flesh} must put on {be clothed upon with} immortality. 54 So when this corruptible {flesh} shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal {flesh} shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.]
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house [in the LORD ONE incorruptible BODY] which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this [flesh] tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that has wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also has given unto us the earnest of [the deposit, of Himself risen from the dead, alive in] the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home [endemeo – bound to this evil generation] in the body [soma – in the corrupt body], we are absent [ekdemos – by being joined being joined with that body] from [apo – away from] the LORD:
7 (For we walk by faith [believing the LORD is alive in us], not by sight [the temporal, outward appearance]:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent [ekdemeo – by being joined with the LORD] from the body [soma – not part of the corrupt body], and to be present [endemeo – at home] with the LORD [dwelling in Him, and He in us].
9 Wherefore we labor, that, whether present [endemeo] or absent [ekdemeo], we may be accepted of [euarestos – we may be made well by agreement with] him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment [mercy] seat of Christ [Jonah 2:8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.]; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the LORD, we persuade men [to agree with Him, that they be not consumed by the own corrupt understanding]; but we are made manifest unto [phaneroo – rendering apparent] God [in us]; and I trust also are made manifest [phaneroo – we render His presence in us] in your consciences [suneidesis – your co-perspective, your agreement with Him, seeing as He sees].
12 For we commend [suniemi – introduce, establish] not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf [realizing He is manifesting His presence in us, through us], that you may have somewhat to answer them which glory in [their outward, temporal] appearance, and not in heart [His mind given to us, by which He lives in us and we in Him].
13 For whether we be beside ourselves [existemi – astounded at this revelation, still not understanding the difference between reality and man’s delusions: insanity], it is to God [to bring you to His understanding, at His will]: or whether we be sober [sophroneo – sane], it is for your cause [that thought us He may work His will].
14 For the love of Christ constrains us [sunecho – holds us together]; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead [needing to hear His word, by which man lives]:
15 And that he died for all [to bring this life to us], that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but [denying themselves, live] unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh [the outward appearance]: yea, though we have known Christ after [He was manifested in] the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more [by His flesh].
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ [and Christ in him], he is a new creature: old [dead] things are passed away; behold, all things [by His Spirit working and speaking unknown in the flesh] are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who has reconciled [katallasso – changed us by putting down the power of corruption] us to himself by Jesus Christ [Jehovah manifesting Himself in the flesh, to rescue us from ourselves], and has given to us the ministry [diakonia] of reconciliation [katallage];
19 To wit [hos – In this manner], that God was [is] in Christ, reconciling [katallasso] the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation [katallage].
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though [hos – in this manner] God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled [katallasso] to God.
21 For he has made him to be sin [here in scandalous flesh] for us, who [before his corrupted flesh] knew no sin; that we might be made [as I have] the righteousness of God in him.
The word diakonia, rendered “ministry” in verse 18 above, is said to mean “attendance (as a servant, etc.); figuratively (eleemosynary) aid, (official) service (especially of the Christian teacher, or technically of the diaconate).” The word konia means to whiten, and dia means the channel through which it comes, above telling us the course adjustment(katallage) comes through whitening, purity by which we see God, not as man sees, but with His eyes seeing the unseen and eternal.
1 John 1
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life [light and understanding] was manifested, and we have seen it [in the flesh], and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us [in His son, and the children given to him];)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy [realizing His presence in this manner] may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light [understanding and life], and in him is no darkness [ignorance] at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness [in ignorance of His presence with us, in us], we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light [His understanding given], as [hos – in the same manner] he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin [no corruption that needs to be washed away, whitened, by His word], we deceive [planao] ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 2
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation [hilasmos, with affinity to hileos, equivalent of the Hebrew word calach, referring us to Exodus 34:9 saying, “And he {Moses} said, If now I have found grace in your sight, O LORD, let my LORD, I pray you, go among us; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon {calach} our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.” And speaking of when all will, by His teaching, know the LORD, saying in Jeremiah 31:34, “And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive {calach – hileos in Hebrews 8:12} their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”] for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keeps [tereo – guards from corruption] his word, in him truly is the love [agape – leading men out of darkness, by giving the uncorrupted word as received] of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked [in the same manner].
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.
9 He that says he is in the light [has this understanding], and hates [refuses to give it to] his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling [skandalon] in him [not thinking the LORD speaking from the flesh is scandalous].
11 But he that hate his brother is in darkness, and walketh [his own way is] in darkness, and knows not whither he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake [to make His identity known].
13 I write unto you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because you have known the Father [manifested in His voice].
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because you have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one [the devils among us opposing and resisting the LORD’s work through us, in us].
15 Love not the [current corrupt] world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever.
18 Little children, it is the last time [‘achariyth in Hebrew]: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 But you have an unction [chrisma – an anointing] from the Holy One, and you know all things.
21 I have not written unto you because you know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father: he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce [planao – deceive] you.
27 But the anointing [this word and calling] which you have received of him abides in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear [phaneroo – is rendered apparent], we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that every one that does righteousness is born of him.
Psalms 139
1 O LORD, you have searched me, and known me.
2 You know my down-sitting and my uprising, you understand my thought afar off [rachowq – this time when the world is ruled by the evil decrees of wicked men in power].
3 You compasses my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue [that is good, except for Your words], but, lo, O LORD, you know it altogether.
5 You have beset me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from your spirit? or whither shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, you are there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, you are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning [rising by this light you have given me], and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall your hand lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night [revealing this time when ignorance covers the earth] shall be light [shall be understood] about me.
12 Yea, the darkness [men’s ignorance] hides not from you; but the night shineth [is by You given understanding] as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to you.
13 For you have possessed my reins: you have covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well.
15 My substance was not hid from you, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in your book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are your thoughts unto me, O God! how significant is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with you.
19 Surely you will slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, you bloody men.
20 For they speak against you wickedly, and your enemies take your name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate you? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against you?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
