The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
The LORD begins today with the above, from Mark 10:45, prophesying of His glory revealed, in the flesh, in the son of man. The statement comes as James and John asked to sit at His right and left hand when he comes (when God the Father, Jehovah, is understood to be in the flesh speaking and working). Below is His full answer.
Mark 10
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that you shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
36 And he said unto them, What would you that I should do for you?
37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on your right hand, and the other on your left hand, in your glory.
38 But Jesus said unto them, You know not what you ask: can you drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, You shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall you be baptized:
40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
42 But Jesus called them to him, and says unto them, You know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 And whosoever of you will be the chief, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus [children of Timothy – the children God has given me], the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, You son of David, have mercy on me.
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort [tharseo – “be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid”], rise; he calleth you.
50 And he, casting away his garment [“spotted by the flesh”], rose, and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What will you that I should do unto you? The blind man said unto him, LORD, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go your way; your faith has made you whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
The word rendered “minster,” in verse 43 above, is the Greek word diakonos, meaning one who executes the commands of another. It’s speaking of those who faithfully carry out the commandments of God, doing His will, including teaching His word as received from Him, which is His glory revealed. It’s used by the LORD to tell of me, the Timothy that was prophesied, the son of man who is the minister to all.
When Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 2, speaks to those God has called into His kingdom, he says the call came as they received their (Paul’s, Silvanus’, and Timothy’s – 1 Thessalonians 1:1) word as the word God, as it is. He then says, in the form of a question, by receiving the word as God’s, they are in the presence of the LORD Jesus Christ at His coming.
1 Thessalonians 2
9 For you remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10 You are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 As you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father does his children,
12 That you would walk worthy of God, who has called you unto his kingdom and glory.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when you received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works [bringing understanding – light] also in you that believe.
14 For you, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 Who both killed the LORD Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: [these are the wicked spoken of in 2 Thessalonians, through who Satan works]
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our LORD Jesus Christ at his coming?
20 For you are our glory and joy.
Paul begins the next chapter prophesying of my coming (see 1 Timothy 1:18 – by which I war, asserting the authority God has given me – the charge I keep), speaking of the above, wherefore I Am sent (“set at liberty” – sent as a soldier on this mission).
1 Thessalonians 3
1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister [diakaonos] of God, and our fellow-laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4 For truly, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and you know.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you [telling you God isn’t present], and our labor be in vain.
6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
8 For now we live, if you stand fast in the LORD.
9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11 Now God himself and our Father, and our LORD Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
12 And the LORD make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our LORD Jesus Christ with all his saints.
1 Timothy 3
8 Likewise must the deacons [diakonos] be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 Let the deacons [diakonos] be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 These things write I unto you, hoping to come unto you shortly:
15 But if I tarry long, that you mayest know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 4
1 Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils [misleaders putting themselves in God’s place];
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry [forbidding you to join into ONE BODY with the LORD], and commanding to abstain from meats, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shall be a good minister [diakonos] of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto you have attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself rather unto godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise your youth; but be you an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you shall both save yourself, and them that hear you.
The word “prophecy,” in verse 14 above, is the Greek word propheteia, which literally means before light or fire. It’s from the words pro, meaning before or in front of, and phos, meaning “(to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; compare 5316, 5346); luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative):–fire, light.” It is speaking of the word of God coming before He is known: before the word is understood to be His presence manifested (the word made flesh).
In the context of this meaning, Paul earlier, in 1 Timothy 1:18 uses it (propheteia), saying to Timothy, “This charge I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on you, that you by them might war a good warfare; 19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander [those spoken of in 1 Timothy 4:3 above]; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.”
John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light [phos – understanding] of men.
5 And the light [phos] shined in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light [Phos – understanding], that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light [Phos – understanding], but was sent to bear witness of that Light [Phos – understanding].
9 That was the true Light [Phos – understanding], which lights every man that comes into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
John 3
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up [against the serpents, those misleading this evil generation, whose deceptive words and ideas, their venom destroying God’s people, must be condemned]:
15 That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation [krisis – the decision that condemns or justifies], that light [phos – understanding] is come into the world, and men loved darkness [ignorance] rather than light [phos – understanding], because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that does evil hate the light [phos – understanding], neither comes to the light [phos – understanding], lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that does truth comes to the light [phos – understanding], that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized [leading into all truth and life everlasting – never again returning to darkness and death].
The word rendered “shined,” in John 1:5 above, is the Greek word phaino, meaning “to lighten (shine), i.e. show (transitive or intransitive, literal or figurative):– appear, seem, be seen, shine, X think.” John 1:5 And the light [phos – understanding] shined [phaino] in darkness [ignorance covering the world]; and the darkness [the ignorant] comprehended it not.
As we see (understand), the prophet, as John does, testifies to the light, which is the LORD in him unknown, un-comprehended, until understanding comes, the light is in those receiving it, which is the life of men who by it are born again as the sons (children) of God. “Are not even you in the presence of our LORD Jesus Christ at his coming?” Isaiah 8:18 Behold [see], I and the children whom the LORD has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts [the LORD who comes to war a good warfare], which dwells in mount Zion.
Matthew 24
27 For as the lightning [phaino] comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcass [of the dead body of Christ] is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened [no understanding in the church], and the moon shall not give her light [civil government also without it], and the stars [God’s people misled into ignorance] shall fall [piotes – the same owrd used of Satan’s fall, in Luke 10:18] from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear [phaino – we shall understand] the sign of the Son of man in heaven [where full understanding is again]: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven [with full understanding from where it was held when it left the earth] with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels [with a shout] with a great sound of a trumpet [calling God’s people to assemble to His ONE BODY, under one shepherd], and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other [the end of the old into the beginning of the new].
The deeper meaning in the above is, when Satan is seen as “lightning” “fall” from heaven, it is when he no longer has (those through who he speaks no longer have) full understanding. The word rendered “lightning,” in Matthew 24:27 above, is the same word, astrape, used in Luke 10:18, saying “And he [the LORD] said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning [astrape] fall from heaven.” The LORD sees the end of the old and the beginning of the new: when those He sends with His message realize devils are subject to His word. Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, LORD, even the devils [misleaders] are subject unto us through your name.
The word rendered “subject” is hupotasso, meaning “to subordinate; reflexively, to obey.” It speaks of the end of ignorance when God is all (the light) in all.
1 Corinthians 15
12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; you are yet in your sins.
18 Then they also which are fallen asleep [the dead here in the flesh] in Christ are perished.
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept [risen, bringing life to dead flesh].
21 For since by [flesh] man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the first-fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
24 Then comes the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he has put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he has put [hupotasso] all things under his feet. But when he says all things are put under [hupotasso] him, it is manifest that [when] he is excepted, which did put all things under [hupotasso] him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued [hupotasso] unto him, then shall the Son [of man] also himself be subject [hupotasso] unto him that put all things under [hupotasso] him, that God may be all [the light] in all.
29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead [into the LORD’s death], if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead [into the death of Christ if He hasn’t risen as He has in me and the children God has given me]?
Friends, it is for our sake the LORD makes His presence known, from the darkness caused by false prophets among us, who falsely claim they are the light. They tell God’s people to look here or look there, and are ignorant of the fact He comes as the light (life) in every man who understands, receives (excepts) Him, and become children of light.
2 Corinthians 11
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light [phos].
15 Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
16 I say again, let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
Matthew 24
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning [phaino] comes out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be [as light, understanding to and in all who receive Him].
Ephesians 5
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not you therefore partakers with them.
8 For you were sometimes darkness [ignorant and sleeping], but now are you light [phos – understanding] in the LORD: walk as children of light [phos – understanding]:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the LORD.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness [the ignorant], but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light [phos – by understanding]: for whatsoever does make manifest is light [phos – understanding].
14 Wherefore he says, Awake you that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light [epiphauo – epiphany].
15 See then that you walk circumspectly [akribos – perfect understanding], not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the LORD is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ;
21 Submitting [hupotasso] yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 Wives, submit [hupotasso] yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the LORD.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto [hupotasso] Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify [separated it from darkness] and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh [as we are the LORD’s flesh, His ONE BODY]; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the LORD the church:
30 For we are members of his [ONE] body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother [those we were joined to before], and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be ONE FLESH.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [Church – the ONE BODY] see that she reverence her husband [The LORD].
1 Thessalonians 5
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the LORD so comes as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety [as they war against us, endangering our lives and liberty]; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child [they have no idea this is what brings forth the ONE BODY]; and they shall not escape.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness [ignorance], that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all the children of light [phos – understanding], and the children of the day [when the light rises from the east and shine to the west upon all]: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep [are unaware and without signs of life] in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our LORD Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify [educate] one another, even as also you do.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the LORD, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings [propheteia – speaking God’s word before you understand, so when you understand you will come to life in His presence].
Deuteronomy 18
15 The LORD your God will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken;
16 According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21 And if you say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?
22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: you shall not be afraid of him.
Psalms 105
1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk you of all his wondrous works.
3 Glory you in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face [presence] evermore.
5 Remember his marvelous works that he has done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
6 O you seed of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.
7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
11 Saying, Unto you will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:
12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.
13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;
14 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
16 Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.
17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:
18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:
19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.
20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.
21 He made him LORD of his house, and ruler of all his substance:
22 To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.
23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.
25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtly with his servants.
26 He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.
27 They showed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.
29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
30 Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.
32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.
33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.
34 He spoke, and the locusts came, and caterpillars, and that without number,
35 And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.
36 He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.
40 The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.
43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:
44 And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labor of the people;
45 That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise you the LORD.
