The title is the LORD speaking of what we’ve seen in previous posts, the destruction of the LORD’s house, which comes by destroying the cognitive ability of his people. We saw Hezekiah ask a similar question in the final verse of Isaiah 38, and the following chapter speaking of the total desolation (by steps into hell), and the LORD, by His Spirit moving, raising His body: Him in His people.

And they bare it.9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,10 And said unto him, Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now.11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.13 And the Jews’ Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise.17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of your house has eaten me up.18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign show you unto us, seeing that you do these things?19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you rear it up in three days?21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
The quote mentioned in verse 17 above is referring us to Psalms 69:9, where, in context, it tells of the desolation of the house, which we saw in the prior post spoken of in a pattern in Isaiah 39. The zeal of the LORD, in His elect remnant, foretold in Isaiah 37:32, rises up and raises up His body. In the passage the LORD, through Isaiah the son of Amoz (names saying: Jehovah’s salvation by renewed strength), speaks to Sennacherib the king of Assyria. Sennacherib and Assyria are names describing the pattern in our time, saying: the moon (civil government) has multiplied into many (confederate) in the degeneration into communism.
The pattern tells of how communism has destroyed every nation it has come against, and now comes against us claiming we will not escape its effects. There is one difference, and Hezekiah (Jehovah strengthens) remembers Who that difference is: the One and only living God.
Isaiah 3715 And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,16 “O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwells between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: you have made heaven and earth.17 Incline your ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which has sent to reproach the living God.18 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have [the internal degeneration into communism has] laid waste all the nations, and their countries,19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD, even you only.”21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel, ‘Whereas you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:22 This is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him; ‘The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.23 Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.24 By your servants have you reproached the LORD, and have said, ‘By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel. [will cut down all the mighty men who stood against them.]25 I have digged, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places [stopped the word of God, and the truth of the devastating effect of communism, all truth, from flowing to the people].’26 Have you not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be to lay waste defensed cities into ruinous heaps.27 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.28 But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me.29 Because your rage against me, and your tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came [by the same steps].’30 And this shall be a sign unto you, ‘You shall eat this year such as grows of itself; and the second year that which springs of the same: and in the third year sow you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.31 And the [elect] remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward [shall rise by reversing the steps of the fall]:32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.'”33 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, “He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”
The “zeal” spoken of above in verse 32 is from the Hebrew word qin’ah, meaning the spirit in us inspiring us to act (move). In the context of our conversation, it is rendered “jealousy” in Isaiah 42:13 in defining what the LORD’s inspiration produces, which is to inspirit those who have been in darkness to open their mouths.
Isaiah 426 I the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light [understanding] of the Gentiles;7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar [darkness – blinding ignorance] does inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands [the places where His word isn’t heard].13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy [qin’ah] like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.14 I have long time held my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.17 They shall be turned back [return by reversing the steps into darkness], they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, You are our gods.18 Hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see.
The travail spoken of in verse 14 above is describing the LORD inspiring His elect to open their mouths and this as bringing forth the child waiting to born. It is spoken of in Isaiah 8, when the light comes to those sitting in darkness, the child is born, and the zeal (inspiration – His Spirit reproduced in us) of the LORD of (hosts) the armies of heaven performs it.
Isaiah 92 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.3 You have multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before you according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.4 For you have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.8 The LORD sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin [a firm enemy] against him [against those trying to rebuild with the same ideas that caused the destruction], and join his enemies together;12 The Syrians [those who exalt themselves above God] before, and the Philistines [foreign invaders – with their idols] behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.13 For the people turn not unto him that smite them [their enemies], neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.15 The ancient and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail.16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.17 Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.18 For wickedness burns as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
Verse 9 & 10 above tell of the those who’ve replaced the LORD with idols, knowing their condition and the need for rebuilding what they have destroyed, but still not seeking the LORD or doing it His way.
Luke 639 And he spoke a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?40 The disciple is not above his master [teacher]: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master [learning what is taught].41 And why behold you the mote that is in your brother’s eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye [which is blinding you and removing your good judgment]?42 Either how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam [the balance beam of a scale – which if off-center doesn’t weigh {judge} properly] that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see [judge] clearly to pull out the mote that is in your brother’s eye.43 For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good [words which are good, that show good judgment]; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil [words which are evil, that show evil judgment]: for of the abundance of the heart [reasoning mind] his mouth speaks.46 And why call you me, LORD, LORD, and do not the things which I say?47 Whosoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like:48 He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock [see Isaiah 42:11 above, saying of those who have come out of blindness, “let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains”]: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.49 But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. [This is why the house these men are trying to rebuild will never stand: it has no foundation.] Matthew 1612 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?14 And they said, Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.15 He said unto them, But whom say you that I am?16 And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona [son of Jonah – first to come from the belly of the earth {hell}, by his words]: for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto you, but my Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock [the foundation of hearing the Father alone revealing the son {Christ in us speaking the Father’s word revealing Him}, and the fruit confessing what is understood] I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.19 And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.21 From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

But wisdom is justified of her children.20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:21 Woe unto you, Chorazin [you who are in the furnace filled with smoke]! woe unto you, Bethsaida [you who are in the houses where they hunt for souls they devour]! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon [who, as you, are the pattern of the false rock and hunters of souls], they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.23 And you, Capernaum [you who live in comfort and are therefore complacent], which are exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom [where the fire of hell are burning], it would have remained until this day.24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, LORD of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes.26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight.27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.28 Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The quote mentioned in verse 17 above is referring us to Psalms 69:9, where, in context, it tells of the desolation of the house, which we saw in the prior post spoken of in a pattern in Isaiah 39. The zeal of the LORD, in His elect remnant, foretold in Isaiah 37:32, rises up and raises up His body. In the passage the LORD, through Isaiah the son of Amoz (names saying: Jehovah’s salvation by renewed strength), speaks to Sennacherib the king of Assyria. Sennacherib and Assyria are names describing the pattern in our time, saying: the moon (civil government) has multiplied into many (confederate) in the degeneration into communism.
The pattern tells of how communism has destroyed every nation it has come against, and now comes against us claiming we will not escape its effects. There is one difference, and Hezekiah (Jehovah strengthens) remembers Who that difference is: the One and only living God.
Isaiah 37
15 And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,
16 “O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwells between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: you have made heaven and earth.
17 Incline your ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which has sent to reproach the living God.
18 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have [the internal degeneration into communism has] laid waste all the nations, and their countries,
19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD, even you only.”
21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel, ‘Whereas you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:
22 This is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him; ‘The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.
23 Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
24 By your servants have you reproached the LORD, and have said, ‘By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel. [will cut down all the mighty men who stood against them.]
25 I have digged, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places [stopped the word of God, and the truth of the devastating effect of communism, all truth, from flowing to the people].’
26 Have you not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be to lay waste defensed cities into ruinous heaps.
27 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
28 But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me.
29 Because your rage against me, and your tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came [by the same steps].’
30 And this shall be a sign unto you, ‘You shall eat this year such as grows of itself; and the second year that which springs of the same: and in the third year sow you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
31 And the [elect] remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward [shall rise by reversing the steps of the fall]:
32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.'”
33 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, “He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.
34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.
35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”
The “zeal” spoken of above in verse 32 is from the Hebrew word qin’ah, meaning the spirit in us inspiring us to act (move). In the context of our conversation, it is rendered “jealousy” in Isaiah 42:13 in defining what the LORD’s inspiration produces, which is to inspirit those who have been in darkness to open their mouths.
Isaiah 42
6 I the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light [understanding] of the Gentiles;
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar [darkness – blinding ignorance] does inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands [the places where His word isn’t heard].
13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy [qin’ah] like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
14 I have long time held my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.
17 They shall be turned back [return by reversing the steps into darkness], they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, You are our gods.
18 Hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see.
The travail spoken of in verse 14 above is describing the LORD inspiring His elect to open their mouths and this as bringing forth the child waiting to born. It is spoken of in Isaiah 8, when the light comes to those sitting in darkness, the child is born, and the zeal (inspiration – His Spirit reproduced in us) of the LORD of (hosts) the armies of heaven performs it.
Isaiah 9
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.
3 You have multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before you according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 For you have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8 The LORD sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.
9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin [a firm enemy] against him [against those trying to rebuild with the same ideas that caused the destruction], and join his enemies together;
12 The Syrians [those who exalt themselves above God] before, and the Philistines [foreign invaders – with their idols] behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13 For the people turn not unto him that smite them [their enemies], neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15 The ancient and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail.
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17 Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18 For wickedness burns as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
Verse 9 & 10 above tell of the those who’ve replaced the LORD with idols, knowing their condition and the need for rebuilding what they have destroyed, but still not seeking the LORD or doing it His way.
Luke 6
39 And he spoke a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
40 The disciple is not above his master [teacher]: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master [learning what is taught].
41 And why behold you the mote that is in your brother’s eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye [which is blinding you and removing your good judgment]?
42 Either how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam [the balance beam of a scale – which if off-center doesn’t weigh {judge} properly] that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see [judge] clearly to pull out the mote that is in your brother’s eye.
43 For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good [words which are good, that show good judgment]; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil [words which are evil, that show evil judgment]: for of the abundance of the heart [reasoning mind] his mouth speaks.
46 And why call you me, LORD, LORD, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock [see Isaiah 42:11 above, saying of those who have come out of blindness, “let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains”]: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. [This is why the house these men are trying to rebuild will never stand: it has no foundation.]
Matthew 16
12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
15 He said unto them, But whom say you that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona [son of Jonah – first to come from the belly of the earth {hell}, by his words]: for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto you, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock [the foundation of hearing the Father alone revealing the son {Christ in us speaking the Father’s word revealing Him}, and the fruit confessing what is understood] I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Zephaniah 3
1 Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!
2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
3 Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.
4 Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
5 The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning does he bring his judgment to light, he fails not; but the unjust know no shame.
6 I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passes by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
7 I said, Surely you will fear me, you will receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
8 Therefore wait you upon me, says the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy [qin’ah – the fire of My zeal].
9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia [beyond the words of darkness] my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.
11 In that day shall you not be ashamed for all your doings, wherein you have transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of you them that rejoice in your pride, and you shall no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.
12 I will also leave in the midst of you an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.
13 The [elect] remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
15 The LORD has taken away your judgments, he has cast out your enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of you: you shall not see evil any more.
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear you not: and to Zion, Let not your hands be slack.
17 The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over you with singing.
18 I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of you, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict you: and I will save her that halts, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
20 At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, says the LORD.
Matthew 11
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him, Are you he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and show John again those things which you do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went you out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
8 But what went you out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
9 But what went you out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.
11 Truly I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffer violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if you will receive it, this is Elijah, which was for to come.
15 He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and you have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and you have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto you, Chorazin [you who are in the furnace filled with smoke]! woe unto you, Bethsaida [you who are in the houses where they hunt for souls they devour]! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon [who, as you, are the pattern of the false rock and hunters of souls], they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And you, Capernaum [you who live in comfort and are therefore complacent], which are exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom [where the fire of hell are burning], it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, LORD of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Psalms 69
1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
5 O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from you.
6 Let not them that wait on you, O LORD God of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek you be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
7 Because for your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face.
8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.
9 For the zeal [qin’ah] of your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached you are fallen upon me.
10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
13 But as for me, my prayer is unto you, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of your mercy hear me, in the truth of your salvation.
14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
15 Let not the water-flood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16 Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.
17 And hide not your face from your servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
19 You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: mine adversaries are all before you.
20 Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
24 Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your wrathful anger take hold of them.
25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.
26 For they persecute him whom you have smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom you have wounded.
27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into your righteousness.
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
29 But I am poor and sorrowful: let your salvation, O God, set me up on high.
30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that has horns and hoofs.
32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
33 For the LORD hears the poor, and despises not his prisoners.
34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moves therein.
35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
